All right, good evening. I'd like to call the August 5th, 2024 meeting of the Greenville City Council to Order. I'm Mayor P. J. Conley. I'll be presiding over tonight's meeting. First, I'd like to call on uh Councilmember Scully for the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you very much, Mayor. In honor of the Softball World Series, this week I wanted to offer a prayer for softball players. Let us pray. God allow me uh sorry. God allow them to play their best, but with integrity. Allow competition to make them stronger but never bitter. Jealous or inconsiderate of others or the game. Always encourage them to see their opponents as people and keep their heart filled with compassion and sportsmanship. If they shall see the blessing of victory, allow them to be proud, but to keep them reckless from boasting. If victory is denied, keep them from feeling defeated, yet allow them to be genuinely proud of a worthy competitor, as they say good game. At the end of each day, help them to find the life lessons that you want to help them learn. So that they may grow as an athlete and as a person. If through the softball field they set an example, allow it to be one that they can be proud of. And may we all learn from their example as a council and as a community. May their teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication inspire us all to be our best. Amen. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Madam Clerk, will you please call the roll? Yes, sir. Mayor Connolly. Here. Mayor from Penn Daniels. Present. Councilmember Foreman. Here. Councilmember Blackburn. Present. Councilmember Scully. Here. Councilmember Robinson. Here. Councilmember Willard.
