Good evening. I'd like to call the October 10th, 2024 meeting of the Greenville City Council to order. I'm Mayor P.J. Conley and be presiding over tonight's meeting. First, I'd like to call on Councilmember Blackburn for the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you, Mayor. Tonight I just wanted to uh share with everyone a short prayer from the Cherokee Nation among the counties that have been declared disasters by FEMA. It also includes the Eastern Band of the Cherokee and these are people who loved the land, their land so much that when they were ordered uh to Oklahoma, they stayed and did their best to persist despite being chased and um persecuted. So the Eastern Band of Cherokee is uh our a very special residence of our state and of their lands in our state, and they are part of the FEMA disaster declaration. So the Cherokee prayer I'd like to share with everyone tonight is may the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house. May the great spirit bless all who enter there. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder. Thank you. All right. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to their public for which it stands one nation under God and individual. Madam Clerk, will you please call a roll? Yes, sir. Mayor Connolly. Here. Uh Mayor Proten Daniels has let us know she'll not be able to attend this evening. Councilmember Foreman? Here. Councilmember Blackburn. Present. Councilmember Scully has let us know he will not be able to attend this evening. Um Councilmember Robinson? Here. Councilmember Willis. Here. All right, Mayor Connelly, we have a quorum. Thank you very much. Now we'll move on to the approval of tonight's agenda. Mr. Manager. No changes, Mayor. Mr. Attorney. Thank you, Mayor. Mayor and Council to a accident closed session motion be added to the agenda to be read at the end of the meeting. Motion to approve the agenda. All right. Those opposed saying nay. Motion passes 4-0. Thank you very much. Now we will move on to special recognitions. Hi, how are you? Yeah, tonight it is our honor to uh to recognize Scott Stanton for his uh his great uh uh time here with the city of Greenville and to recognize his retirement with our city. And I would just like to take a few seconds just to give you a little bit of background about uh Scott and his history here with with our great community.
