Although the regularly scheduled meeting for December 22, 2025, was cancelled by a unanimous vote at the end of the preceding December 11, 2025, council meeting, the following summary captures all proceedings from the December 11, 2025, city council meeting that are included in the official transcript. The December 11 meeting was presided over by Mayor P.J. Connolly and included all six council members—Foreman, Willis, Jones, Hardy, Scully, and Robinson—along with city staff and the city attorney. The meeting lasted approximately 3 hours and covered a wide range of legislative, planning, and policy items.
Most least most recently retired Chief Davenport, who I appreciate being here today, set us up in a in a great way to succeed going forward. He was able to secure the 2472 schedule change, and that will be a complete game changer for us. I thank him for his vision, his leadership, and for our department and throughout his entire career. Likewise, our command staff is second to none, more than qualified to solve problems we will encounter as we grow. And I couldn't ask for a better partner with Chief Deputy Chief Jesse Harris as we continue to move this department forward. He's a man of great integrity with a strong moral compass and technical knowledge who shares my vision for a great future at GFR. Through our firefighters, paramedics, fire inspectors, support staff, and their families. Together, we'll make our department stronger, our city safer, and our community prouder. So let's get to work. Again, thank you all for being here today and our fire department for for me and our fire department family. May God bless each of you and our city in the days ahead. Thank you. In closing, I would like to uh just to point out one thing that Chief Anderson said right there is that the men and women of Fire Greenville Fire Rescue are true heroes. You are. It's our obligation to make sure that we're living up to our end of the bargain and make sure we move in this department forward. With that, I'd like to call forward our um Pastor Michael Parks for the benediction. If you would please let's all stand. Lord, we humbly come before you in the name of Jesus. And Father, as we lift our prayers unto you, Lord, we truly pray unto you. It's not just a prayer of a sign that the ceremony is closing, that the swearing in is done. But Lord, it's uh it's a prayer not of ending of the ceremony, but the beginning of a new season. And Father, as Greenville, um, as they go through logistically of the changes and the seasons and the new leadership under Chief Anderson, Lord, we just ask and pray that you would be upon this city, that you would be upon each and every department, each and every first responder that's represented here today, Lord, through its uh uh fire and law enforcement, uh, first responder, paramedic, whatever the case may be, whatever the field they're in, Lord, we just humbly ask that your angels and hedge of protection would be constantly upon all of those that are represented here today. Lord, we did thank you for this awesome opportunity as your word says that there's a time and and and season for everything under heaven. This is a new season. This is a new season for Chief Anderson, a new season for his family, and a new season for the fire department of Greenville, North Carolina. And Lord, through this new season, we ask and pray that your wisdom and your knowledge and your discernment would be upon Chief Anderson and all the leaders, all the firefighters, all the ones that support this city that support the public of Greenville, North Carolina. We ask and pray that you would bless their going out and coming in in the name of Jesus. That Lord, your protections and that they would be under your wings, Lord Jesus, as they go out to answer these calls, and that Lord, you would bless this city mightily, that you would bless all the entities represented here today mightily, and that Lord again we ask and pray for your wisdom and your knowledge and discernment as you gave Solomon that you would give to Jeremy, Lord Jesus, and that Lord, your light would shine through all the faucets of of Greenville City, uh, the city of Greenville, and that Lord, your blessings we be upon them all. And to that we give you all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise for all things and for the new season. In Jesus' name we pray, amen. God bless you. Have a good day, have a great week. I think this may actually be the fastest weekend. All right, good evening. I'd like to call the December eighth, two thousand twenty-five, uh, installation ceremony of the Great City Council Order. I'm Mayor P. J. Connelly. I'll be presiding over tonight's meeting. First, I'd like to call on Pastor Aaron Kennedy from Open Door Church for the invocation, followed by the presentation of the colors by the Greenville Fire and Rescue. Thank you for the invitation to be here. Let's pray. I invite everyone to pray with me. We're instructed in Scripture to pray for our leaders, so let's pray it up tonight. Father, we're just so grateful tonight that we live in this amazing community. So grateful for the leaders, Lord, that I even believe that you have chosen your word teaches us that Father, you're the one who puts authority in place. Amen. Oh, you see a tons of me. And that's why it's last meeting. Whose broad strikes and right stars through the camera or the land what we watched was on the streaming.
