This year, NOAA predicts an above average season 13 to 19 named storms, six to ten hurricanes, and three to five of those as major hurricanes.

One of the most powerful steps you can take is to make the evacuation plan now.

The City of Gulfport serves approximately 5,000 utility customers, and that's about 1,400 homes located inside the FEMA special flood hazard area.

That places a significant amount of homes at an increased risk during flood events.
