I'd like to begin by asking our clerk to call the roll, please.

And we'd like to ask Sir Brian Marcasey to introduce our spotlight for this evening.

Thank you, Mayor Tuck, City Council, City Manager Bunting, and City Attorney Sidnore.

Tonight it's my distinct honor to shine a spotlight on one of our city's most valued valued partners, the military, and specifically Joint Base Langley Eustace.

The service members of Joint Base Langley Eustace not only serve our country with distinction, but also give their time and energy to improving our local community.

But their commitment to service goes far beyond their military duties.

Even though they are only stationed here for a short time, they understand the importance of giving back to the very community that supports them.

Local outreach and volunteerism are deeply integrated into the values of the across the Department of Defense.

And we see that reflected in their work here in Hampton.

Through various projects, these servicemen members have built strong connections with our city.

They live among us, attend our schools, churches, and support our local businesses.

Their involvement in community initiatives, such as maintaining cemeteries, cleaning public spaces, and supporting local events creates a lasting bond between joint base Langley East and Hampton.

The dedication of these men and women to both their military mission and the community has a profound impact on us all.

We also recognize the teamwork and leadership that these service members bring to every project they undertake.

The mentorship of young airmen uh that young airmen learn through organizing and executing these efforts not only helps improve our city but also develops essential skills for their future careers.

Unfortunately, I don't think I could fit all the service members who have helped out in our community uh into chambers.

Uh but with us tonight are some key individuals I want to introduce who are representing uh JBLE and exemplify this commitment to service.

In the audience, we have uh Colonel Dillonberger, Chief uh Colson, uh from JBLE Services uh serves Captain Travis Winchester, Master Sergeant uh Therese Williams, Master Sergeant Uh Shante Oldham, Technical Sergeant Eric Horride, and from the 633rd Security Forces Squadron, Technical Sergeant Britton Smith, and Staff Sergeant uh Cartriel Stills.

And from the 633rd Civil Engineering Squadron, Mr.

Jeffrey Saunders.

Their leadership has been instrumental in guiding their teams and ensuring the success of JBLE's community initiatives, and we are honored to have them here tonight.

But before I pass things over to the mayor, I want to acknowledge the tangible impact that these service members have had in our community.

From volunteering at Bluebird Gap Farm and local cemeteries to leading community clean up cleanup efforts, their contributions have made uh Hampton a more beautiful, connected, and thriving city.

Additionally, their commitment continues.

On Saturday, November 2nd, JBLE service members will be supporting multiple projects across the city and of Hampton, further demonstrating their unwavering dedication to our community.

Their efforts have helped beautify our city, engage our citizens, and improve the overall appearance of our community.

At this time, I'd like to turn the program back over to Mayor Tuck to read the proclamation recognizing Joint Base Langley Eustace for their incredible work and service to our community.

And it says City of Hampton, Virginia, proclamation in recognition of our military partner, Joint Base Langley Eustace, in the City of Hampton, Virginia.

Whereas the City of Hampton is fortunate to have a military partner that is dedicated to our community, whereas the volunteerism and project participation of its team members help our community thrive.

Whereas members of Joint Base Langley Eustace, JBLE, have joined the do-gooders of Hampton Roads in fostering the spirit of doing good to others through through their work to maintain the Bassett Cemetery and the Elmerton Cemetery in Hampton.

Whereas on June 21st, 2024, Team JBLE hosted the first JBLE Serves Day, in which members went into the Hampton Roads community to build and beautify it and offer support to those who support them, their families, and their daily missions.

Whereas members of JBLE are committed to assisting others through tutoring, mentoring, and volunteering with Hampton Cleanup campaigns, and whereas the Hampton Police Division partners with Langley Security Forces Squadron in training personnel and coordinating security for events such as the Langley Air Force Base Air Show.

Now, therefore, I, Donnie R.

Tuck, mayor, on behalf of the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia, to hereby recognize our military partner, Joint Base Langley Eustace in the city of Hampton, Virginia, for the work they do to enhance our community.

Furthermore, I call upon the citizens of Hampton to join me in thanking them for the contributions they have made to our community and to our country.
