The regular City Commission meeting of Hollywood, Florida, was called to order at 1:05 PM and adjourned at 5:31 PM, with a recess from 2:27 PM to 5:02 PM. The commission approved a consent agenda of 13 routine items, adopted an ordinance on first reading redefining commercial vehicle parking, approved a contract change for Motorola radio equipment, and authorized negotiations to purchase the historic Joseph Young House at auction. Public comments highlighted concerns about traffic safety, water billing, community center programming, and development issues.

Thank you, Mayor. Proclamation, City of Hollywood, Florida, in recognition of Black History Month, February 2026. Whereas Carter G. Woodson, known as the Father of Black History, originally founded Negro History Week in February of 1926 to honor the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, two key figures in the fight for freedom and equality. In 1976, President Gerald Ford expanded the recognition from one week to a month. Each February, National Black History Month honors the achievements and extraordinary contributions of African Americans, highlighting the legacies and the generations who have shaped our nation's history, culture, and progress.
