The Hollywood City Commission held a special meeting on May 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM in City Hall to consider appointments to 13 advisory boards and committees. Mayor Josh Levy presided, with all commissioners present. The meeting focused on filling vacancies across various boards, with several applicants speaking in support of their candidacy. Some items were continued to a future meeting due to insufficient applicants. The commission emphasized dual-office holding restrictions and the importance of board service.

All right, thank you all. Welcome to City Hall, everybody. We have a special city commission meeting uh set today. Of course, it's uh uh Wednesday, May 27th, uh 2026. As you all know, uh, we have the opportunity today to uh consider the appointment of uh folks who have applied to serve on our uh many uh volunteer boards uh here in the city of Hollywood. We appreciate everybody's interest uh in serving on a board. It's certainly a great way for you to enjoy the subject matter of your interest if you selected a board uh that you're of course interested in, uh or maybe one that your expertise could lend a helping hand to the city and its respective uh endeavors uh and the variety of boards that we have here. Um you know, all of them are important, um, and some of them are also um restricted in law in that uh you can only serve in one and not two, and so some of you might have applied for two boards, but they might have a restriction on service uh on one versus the other um if it's if it's a particular board. And uh and that would constitute just for the reminder of the board here of the of the city commission, uh membership on a board with a final decision-making authority constitutes an office, and therefore any one of the following eight uh offices uh would restrict you from uh serving in a second office because you can't be a dual office holder. So that includes uh Civil Service Board, Emerald Hills Safety Enhancement District Board, Employees Retirement Board, Firefighters Pension Board, Historic Preservation Board, Hollywood Housing Authority, Planning and Development Board, and Police Officers Pension Board. So you if you're if you serve on any one of those, you just can't serve on a second one of those. Um the rest, yes, you can serve on two uh if if we have the space and if you've applied for two and if you're selected. So uh thank you all. Today we have uh items three through fifteen. Uh so that makes if my math is correct, twelve boards uh that we'll need to fill. Um thirteen. Um and so let's go ahead. The first one will be the um I just want to do want to point out for the days here that as you see on the days we received a corrected grid uh for items uh six and eight. Item six is planning development board with the addition of Stephen Morales for reappointment and uh African American Advisory Council has corrected information uh crossing out one member who um was determined to not qualify. So let's go ahead with item three. I'll go ahead and leave all the mics on unless it gets messy. Uh uh so let's go ahead with um item three is a resolution of the city commission appointing one member to the Hollywood Police Officers Pension Board.
