Planning and Development Board Meeting - August 11, 2026: Continuation of Hollywood Beach Overlay District Item
The Planning and Development Board met on August 11, 2026, at approximately 5:20 PM in Hollywood City Hall. The sole agenda item—a recommendation to amend zoning regulations to establish the Hollywood Beach Overlay District and design guidelines—was continued due to a procedural notice issue. The board set a new hearing date and adjourned without taking public comment or substantive discussion.
Continuation of Agenda Item (File No. 26-Z-18)
- Staff informed the board that the item had been properly noticed in the newspaper but was not posted on the city's physical sunshine board as required by the local code. Staff requested a continuation to cure the notice deficiency, emphasizing that the request was not based on opposition but on a commitment to a fair and transparent process.
- The board's advisory attorney confirmed that the notice issue was curable and recommended continuing cleanly to avoid questions about hearing merits on incomplete notice.
- Board members discussed available dates. After deliberation, the board set a new hearing date for September 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM. One member was unavailable for all proposed dates; another member who was unavailable accepted the majority decision.
- Staff indicated they would upload a virtual presentation to the city website within 24 hours to inform the public.
Adjournment
- The meeting was adjourned without any public comments, staff presentation, or board deliberation on the merits. Staff informed the public that those who had submitted comment cards would have the opportunity to speak at the continued meeting.

Um and Chair, before the board takes any action on the item on the agenda today, staff would like to make a request and that the item it to provide a little background. This item was properly noticed under state law, and the notice was posted in the newspaper as required. A display ad was uh posted. In reviewing the file, however, staff identified that the item was not physically posted on the city's sunshine board. While posted on the virtual board, it was not posted on the physical board outside the city clerk's office in compliance with our code of ordinances. Staff therefore request that the board open the item to allow staff open the item and allow for a continuation of the item at staff's request time and date certain to a date that we will share that we will post on the screen and you all can deliberate on availability. Um to be clear, it is a staff's request, and it's about notice and about completeness, ensuring that the record indeed is whole. It's not in response of any opposition or any specific position. It's our commitment to a fair and transparent process. So at this time, we really humbly apologize and request that this item be continued. Time and date, sir. I really thank you for your time. Thank you. What should we hear? Why miss this great opportunity to to discuss openly our concerns and what staff would like to accomplish. I'll refer to the city attorney to provide you that response. Hello, Mr. Chair. Um hello, ECM board members. My name is Farosha Andashewa. I am the board's um advisory attorney. So this item wasn't posted on the city's sunshine board as our local code requires.
