  • Little Pee Dee / Hill River Area Survey: A final public meeting is scheduled for October 30, 2024 at CBR Station to receive comments on the draft survey, which has been accepted by the state. A copy of the booklet will be provided to all board members.
  • Legacy Business Program Update: An ordinance has been drafted to establish uniform criteria for the program. Criteria include 50 years in business and ownership requirements. The ordinance will be presented at the next meeting for a vote, then proceed to the Infrastructure Regulation Committee and Planning Commission as a text amendment to the zoning ordinance.
  • Number of Legacy Business Awards Per Year: The board discussed reducing the previous goal of 83 businesses per year. Suggestions included 10-12 (one per month) or two per month (24 annually). The decision will be informed by the new criteria.
  • Presentation of Plaques: The board discussed options: presenting plaques at the business location or at county meetings. It was decided to offer businesses the choice. Businesses selecting an on-site ceremony will coordinate a date with board members.
