The Horry County Council held its regular meeting on July 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. The meeting included public input, approval of a consent agenda, presentations recognizing employee service and Parks and Recreation Month, approval of the State Accommodations Tax budget, and second readings and public hearings on numerous zoning and development ordinances, all of which passed unanimously.
All ordinances listed below were approved unanimously after public hearings with no public comment or council discussion.
I have 6 o'clock. We will call this regular county council meeting of July 15, 2025 to order. We will start the meeting the way we always do with the invocation. Well by the Pledge of Allegiance. So I get everybody please stand. Let us pray. Dear Lord, thank you for another opportunity for us to come together and do the business of the county. Thank you for all the blessings you bestowed upon us. Thank you that we live in paradise. We'd ask that you watch over us tonight. Give us patience and diligence and strength as we deal with the county business. Please wrap your hands around our first responders and keep them safe. And continue your blessings with everybody that lives here and works here in Ory County. And these blessings we ask, and in your name we pray. Amen. We've had one person sign up, Mr. James Milward. I believe he's here. Hello, gentlemen, how are we doing today? Good. This comes a long story count. My topic is the recycling center. It was in the recycling center until a gentleman run over it and drug it out to 544 in this pickup truck. Can this work out of this work? Somebody fix it for me. So I go to the recycling center Sunday on the way to church, and I've got a small little bag of cap manure in a food line bag. And there's a gentleman there with a pickup truck with a trailer. And the trailer's loaded with about 30 to 50 bags of trash. And I wait for him to leave the compactor and take my one little bag and throw it in the in the compactor and walk walking back to my car, and I hear. So I turned around and I said, Well, in the fourth grade, we learned to take our trash every other day. Evidently you didn't make it to the fourth grade. So while I'm standing there, the Ory County Recyclement Center has put cones up after that. Can you break this down so uh the whole thing is shut? Ma'am. They put cones in front of the household waste area. That's good. So you can see at this point you go in and out. They've got a sign right here, and these are cones right here. They've got a sign that says keep right. So you keep right, and if you've got cardboard or plastic, you go this way. And if you've just got household waste, you go this away. If you've got some bulk, you go over here. If you've got a computer or TV, you go to here, you got oil, household oil or wood. This is the office. But they don't put any cones over here for the carboard and plastic.
