Houston Planning Commission Meeting – September 18, 2025

- Item D – Mooshki Road (Harris County): Delete Mooshki Road as a major thoroughfare from Mound Road to North Bridgeland Lake Parkway due to construction difficulties over Cypress Creek through park and detention land. [Motion carried unanimously.]
- Item E – Umble Parkway (Meta Planning & Design): Delete Umble Parkway from Rankin Road to Greens Road due to bayou, pipelines, and TXDOT-owned parcels; East Ex Freeway provides access. [Motion carried unanimously.]
- Item F – Chimney Rock Road (Briarcroft HOA): Request to downgrade Chimney Rock from major thoroughfare to minor collector for traffic calming eligibility. Staff opposed, citing high measured volumes. Commissioners debated: some expressed sympathy but noted difficulty in carving out segments within a larger corridor. Denied (1 opposed, no abstentions).
- Item G – East Tidwell Road (Sappington Engineering): Establish a new major collector extending Tidwell Road to Sheldon Reservoir (initial request was major thoroughfare). Staff recommended major collector to allow a curve and reduced right-of-way while meeting demand. Supported by Harris County Precinct One. [Motion carried unanimously.]
- Item H – Baethey Road (Meta Planning & Design): Realign Baethey Road southward; greenfield development with all property owner consent. [Motion carried unanimously.]
- Item I – Unnamed East-West Major Thoroughfare, Blue Ridge Road, and Harems Clark Road (Meta Planning & Design): Delete three roads due to alignment challenges in a floodway; previously approved by Fort Bend County. [Motion carried unanimously.]
Key Outcomes
- The commission voted on nine MTFP amendments, approving eight and denying one (Item F).
- Approved recommendations will be forwarded to Houston City Council for adoption.
