Patriots from Connecticut would attack Long Island to keep supplies out of British hands and to get supplies for American troops in Connecticut. Meanwhile, loyalists stationed at Fort Franklin on Lloyd's Neck would attack Connecticut. Some of the attacks were officially sanctioned and served some military purpose. An increasing number were simply criminal in nature, taking advantage of the anarchy of war. Whatever the motive behind the attacks, local residents suffered. Thanks to the sacrifices of generations of Huntington Patriots, liberty endures.
