Good afternoon, Chair Garcia and fellow commissioners.

Uh the purpose of this study session, as Jane mentioned, is to reintroduce the proposed project uh following the last discussion that we had with the planning commission at the workshop in October 2018.

Uh since that time, the commission has welcomed a new member and the project has evolved into a two-part request.

The first element is a request for a general plan amendment, which will amend the general plan land use designation of a 2.26 acre park uh sorry, acre vacant parcel from currently Open Space Park OSP to research and technology or RT.

I'm going to toggle over to the map for reference.

The subject parcel that's outlined in uh black is owned currently by the county of Orange and is immediately west of a 9.42 acre parcel that's also currently designated RT.

Both of these parcels are both owned by the county.

And they also function together as one vacant site.

The general plan amendment request will bring the entire site under RT designation for future use.

The Huntington Beach Planning Commission met on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, for a study session at 5:00 PM and a regular meeting at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers. The commission reviewed a major zoning proposal for the Research and Technology (RT) district, approved a church school expansion, directed staff to prepare findings for denial of a mixed-use condo project, and approved the city's Capital Improvement Program for fiscal year 2019/20. All votes were unanimous except the vote on the Ellis Avenue Condos, which passed 6-1.
