Welcome to the City of Murphy special called uh city council meeting uh May 12th.

The time is 6 p.m.

Rise with me as I offer the invocation pledge of allegiance, our our heavenly father bless us this evening.

Uh today we gather here uh to celebrate two individuals for the services that they've provided to the uh to the community.

Um we celebrate Andrew Chase uh and his wisdom uh that he's provided uh and Laura Deal for the passion that she's provided uh to the city.

I thank them and I thank everyone who serves uh the community as the two of them have your name and praying.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all right, turn the time over to Secretary Wolf and Certification of Quorum.

Moving on to item four, public comments.

Time we set aside on the agenda.

It'll allow residents to address council and item not on the agenda this evening.

Would anyone like to address council on item not on the agenda this evening?

Seeing none, we'll move on to individual consideration.

Consider and/or act on an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the election results for the May 2nd, 2026, uh uh of a general election for the purpose of electing individuals to the office of mayor, council member place three, council member place five to three-year terms of each office and a special election for the purpose of submitting a ballot propositioning to uh to the qualified voters of the city, such proposition being the reauthorization of a local sales and use tax in the city of Murphy for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets.

Laura, I we we did get you a uh a plaque uh and really do appreciate the service uh that you provided.

I was really unhappy with the way this election played out just in general, uh, and I love to keep uh kind of national politics uh out of uh elections, and uh um the uh it really didn't kind of go in the way I was hoping, but I it's been a pleasure to really serve with you for the last three years, and I hope you come in and serve on board with us.
