As I call to order the August 18th 2026 regular city council meeting. Time is 6 p.m. Rise with me as I offer the indication, leave the pledge of allegiance. Our Heavenly Father, bless us as we consider the agenda in front of us tonight. Give us the wisdom to act with compassion and vision for what is best for the community. Bless and watch over our public safety officers and the community they serve. In your name we pray. Amen. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I will turn the time over to the City Secretary for roll call and certification of porn. Mayor Scott Bradley? Here. Mayor Pro Tim Scott Smith. Here. Deputy Mayor Pro Tim Ken Oldman. Here. Councilmember place one Elizabeth Averham? Here. Councilmember place three, Debbie Island. Councilmember place five, Kevin Kelly. Here. Councilmember place six, Janae Butler. Here. Mayor served by the presence of a corn. Thank you. All right. It's great to see everybody with us tonight. I hope you all uh you get a lot of great information from the meeting with us this evening. Um the way we've struck this is structured. Uh we have public comments, that's what we're going to go into next. And if you have uh some public comments that you want to discuss on an item not on the agenda, then I'm going to invite you to come up and have a conversation. If you're here to have a uh to talk to us about the tax rate, I'm going to call you up during that agenda item so you guys can uh can have it. I've got a number of uh comment forms. If you haven't had a chance to fill one out, that's okay. I'll just ask you for your main name and address at that time. So with that, um I'm gonna uh council will move into uh public comments is the time we set aside in the agenda for residents to discuss an item that is not on the agenda this evening. I do have a public comment form from Mr. Little. Would you like to come up and uh and speak with us? Good evening. Maynard Little, residing at 104 St. Mark Drive in the affluent city of Murphy. Tonight I would like to take a walk, take a walk with some of you down memory lane. Those of you have been city leaders for more than three years. Almost three years ago, at a December council meeting, I stated, quote, Murphy, we have a problem. We have a spending problem, unquote. Has anything changed since then? Actually, it has. The spending problem has gotten even worse, resulting in higher taxes, rates, and fees, along with brand new fees, while infrastructure needs were ignored, and the unnecessary spending on vanity projects continued unabated.
