The Indianapolis Board of Zoning Appeals 2 held a virtual public meeting on August 11, 2020, at 1:00 PM. - Continuance Request (2020-205): Matt Price, representing the petitioner at 5339 West 75th Street, requested a continuance to the September 8, 2020 meeting. Price stated ongoing negotiations with the Pike Township Residence Association and Pike High School property owner regarding an alternate location. Staff had no objection. The board approved the continuance without additional notice. Motion by Barry Kelly, seconded by James Duke. Vote: 5-0.
- Automatic Continuances Acknowledged: Two petitions were automatically continued to September 8, 2020 due to timely filings by neighborhood organizations: 2020 DV2-022 at 1931 Dr. AJ Brown Avenue, and 2020 UV2-009 at 10131 East Thompson Road. The board acknowledged these continuances.
- Expedited Petitions (Approved):
- 2020 DV2031 (301 Sanders Street): Request by Robert Ctron (Mark and Kim Crouch) for a variance of development standards to allow a single-family dwelling with a 12-foot front setback, 4 feet between dwellings, 52% open space, and a detached garage within the clear side triangle. Staff conditions and findings of fact were accepted. Motion by Ruder, seconded by Kelly. Vote: 5-0.
- 2020 UV2010 (5133 East 65th Street/5127 East 56th Street): Request by Jerome J. Connor for a variance of use to permit alcohol sales by the drink, carry-out sales, and outdoor seating for a microbrewery with a tasting room and retail sales of beer and merchandise. A letter of support from City-County Councillor Dan Boots was received. Motion by James Duke, seconded by Barry Kelly. Vote: 5-0.
- Full Hearing Item (2020 DV2025 – 3316 and 3318 St. Paul Street): The petitioner was not reachable by staff prior to the meeting. Staff recommended a continuance. The board voted to continue the petition to September 8, 2020 without additional notice. Motion by Barry Kelly, seconded by James Duke. Vote: 5-0.

- Adoption of Findings of Fact: The board unanimously adopted negative findings of fact for previously denied petition 2020 DV2024 (7030 Emblem Drive) and findings of fact for the two approved expedited petitions (2020 DV2031 and 2020 UV2010). Motion by Ruder, seconded by Kelly. Vote: 5-0.
