Uh Jennifer Pierce, thank you for having us with Bart Brown.

Either of us are happy to answer any questions.

We do not have any changes to our proposal.

Uh colleagues, any questions?

Counselor Allen.

It's not necessarily a question, but it's more of a statement.

I know that I met with you all last year or earlier this year.

Um, and I noticed even in your presentation, you all named about you guys look at your data every five years.

Um, and I know when I met with your team, one of my concerns was putting bus stops more on the east side that's going further east.

Um, I know in one direction going towards Walmart towards Pendleton Pike, and I might have mentioned it going towards Washington Square, Councilor Hart, and um also Councilor Brown.

And so uh there's plenty of infrastructure uh that's going on, and it's a new subdivision is actually about to be built right there at 42nd in German Church Road.

Um I know you guys, like I said, look at your data every five years, but the east side is steady growing, and so I think that data needs to be looked at more less than five years, and especially with the quality of life plan that's coming to the Far East side, which Councillor Graves and I were on a call, and you should be getting a call pretty soon.

And so we need to be looking at more bus stops, and I will be partnering with um Councillor Brown to see what that looks like because I know part of my section, uh my district goes over into Lawrence, and I know I have uh and another concern to mine.

One of the things they told me was something about sidewalks, and I'm having conversations about more sidewalks uh as well.

So that is what I wanted to say.

If we can look at the data, you you know, less than five years because communities like District 15 um is growing, and and I know that my constituents is gonna need and already done reached out about having more bus stops coming on the far east side, and then it doesn't help that I go to one of the biggest churches that resides right there in my district, and so I get to hear the stories of what my fellow, you know, fellows, you know, sisters and brothers.

I get to hear those stories from my own pastor and his co-executive pastor and from the church of what the fire side needs as well.

That's all I have.

Just yeah, no, thank you for your comment.

And um, I want to make sure that everybody understands we do a full review every five years, but that is not mean that we are not always looking at the data.

So as new developments come in, absolutely we will take another look at that and um make sure that we're providing the right routes in the right places.

I would I've taken a note from my fellow here.

He he made it a point to make sure his libraries get some work on it, and so next year as you guys come before the budget and no bus stops.

I'm probably gonna say the same thing, so just be prepared.

I just want to give uh counselor allen some backup on this.

Um, I've just been here my sixth year on this committee, and I just want to add a little extra because um you're 100% right in everything you said, and uh I said that I used to say this to your your predecessor all the time is that the there also has to be quality in those stops.

There are too many stops that still exist today that are just a sign in a ditch, yeah, and that doesn't do anybody any good, especially in in inclement weather.

So um when you're considering those stops, you know, certainly obviously there's gonna be a lot of investment on the blue line, but in and around all these other streets between Washington and and well, I think you guys go all the way up to like 42nd, and at least um there's there's a lot of opportunity for for improved quality of stops.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Um we spent we set aside about a million dollars a year to make improvements to our bus stops, and we've been able to leverage um through our foundation largely some additional grants through um areas of persistent poverty, um, through some in uh DPW, I think it's INIP grants, so that we can really multiply that.

So I can't remember the exact number, but it's tens of millions of dollars in the last several years.

We are moving forward um as fast as we can to get those stops improved at our service committee meeting this month.

We're gonna go over in great detail how we're making progress on our ADA accessibility.

So if any of you are interested in tuning in, um, we'll have a full report and assessment of kind of the progress that we made over the last number of years.

But I agree with you, we continue to do work.

Um I was actually just in New Orleans, and their uh trolley and bus stops were really nice, and so to both their their points there, that would be good.

Do you think uh as we roll into later this year or possibly even early next year, we could get a report on our bus stops?

How many of them?

I know we have three or four classifications for them, I think.

And where we're at, how many of them are still just those polls in the middle of nowhere?

Uh they came back with a proposal, and uh, we're still just trying to negotiate in good faith uh to do what's right for the library.

I just recall that there was a I don't know if it was a typo or just an error in the reporting on the potential deficit for or loss in uh budget revenue going forward.

I think was Candace sent an email out or CFO Candace sent an email out.

I'm sorry, it's been a long day.

Uh clarifying and and working with them to get that situated on our half.

Yes, I do send email so they have sent an updated slide, um, but I can reforward it to you.

Uh but they did provide and have your slide fixed that fixed the error with the fund balance.

Yep, that was the only thing that changed was the correction and what the fund balance was projected to be over the course of the next couple years.
