City manager noted that on page 112 of the budget package there is a high-level summary of TSPLOST 1 and details on TSPLOST 2. Staff offered to follow up with additional information.
- Anwar Guaswala (representing Medlock Bridge subdivision): Described critical stormwater drainage issues in Medlock Bridge Lake. Stated that the watershed increased from 85 acres (1993) to 460 acres, with sediment inflow of approximately 1,100 cubic yards per year. The HOA spent nearly $1 million on engineering and maintenance. Asked the city to recognize this as a regional problem and consider a partnership or grant; emphasized that 80% of the watershed originates outside the subdivision.
- Robert Simon (self-identified; spoke during first public comment): Requested the council make stormwater runoff a higher priority, noting that original development approvals lacked adequate setbacks and infrastructure.
- Candidate for House District 51 (spoke during second public comment): Introduced himself and expressed interest in meeting with council members to discuss serving the district.
Presentations
- Recognition of the Johns Creek Aquatic Team (JCATS): Swimmers received certificates of recognition. The team achieved 39 top-eight finishes and three state champions at the Georgia state meet. Parents, coaches, and staff were thanked.
- Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for FY2026: Finance Director Harpreet Hora was honored. The award recognizes the city's budget as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool, meeting 14 mandatory criteria.

Councilmember D.B.S.I. Councilmember Elwood. Here. Thank you. We have a quorum. Fantastic. Next time. Thank you. The next item is our Pledge of Allegiance. So we have some of our JCATs members. We have JCATs here. There might be a few JCATs here. We have some that are going to lead us in the pledge if you'll come up. You want to pull the mic down just a little bit? Yeah. Here we go. Maybe just a little in there. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which stands one nation under God in the visible with liberty and business for all. Very good. Mayor's opening remarks. Yeah, I'll just be brief. One thing that I want to draw your attention to is that we are having a ribbon cutting for the uh pedestrian tunnel out on 141. That's gonna be on Wednesday, August 12th at 9 a.m. at the tunnel itself. All of you are welcome to attend. The tunnel creates a safe link between those dozens of businesses and thousands of residents that are on that other side of 141 from here, including communities like Harside, Ashwood Meadows, and Johns Creek Walk, just to name a few. And of course, that'll make it easier to get to the boardwalk in the town center. And of course, the greenway that long runs parallel to 141. So anyway, that's gonna be uh I think a really neat addition to the city and hope you can join us. That's it. Thank you, Mayor. The next item on your agenda are minutes.
