I've got several exciting updates and upcoming events to share that really show our community at its best.

Allen Park upgrades.

We're nearing the finish line on another phase of improvements at Allen Park.

Landscaping is underway now, and soon the neighborhood will be able to enjoy all the new amenities.

It's always rewarding to see projects like this take shape and bring new life to one of our favorite community spaces.

ASU Homecoming.

Meet me on Maine.

This weekend, it's time to show our Red Wolf Pride.

Arkansas State University's homecoming festivities kick off Friday evening with Meet Me on Maine Homecoming Edition.

Main Street will be closed to traffic and fund begins at 5 p.m.

Downtown will be full of energy, live music, and hometown spirit.

So come out and celebrate with us.

Halloween is just around the corner.

Our annual trunk or treat block party needs your candy donations.

Now the Jonesboro Fire Department, Jonesboro Police Department, and the Crackhead County Sheriff's Department are competing for who can raise the most donations.

You can help by dropping off bags of individually wrapped candy at three locations.

JPD on Careway, Fire Department on East Johnson, or the Sheriff's Office on Willet.

The block party is 6 p.m.

to 7 30 p.m.

on October 29th, downtown.

Neighborhood cleanup, November 1st.

The following Saturday, November 1st, we'll host our next neighborhood cleanup at Grace Baptist Church, 3930 Aggie Road from 8 a.m.

till noon.

This program continues to be a big hit.

It's easy, efficient, and free.

Just drive up with your unwanted items, and our sanitation crews will handle unloading, sorting, and proper disposal for you.

You can even drop off old tires.

The same morning we'll honor our heroes with the veterans parade on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m.

Followed by a special ceremony in front of the county courthouse.

I encourage everyone to come out and show appreciation for those who've served our country with such dedication.

Renaissance Fair at Crackhead Forest.

And if you're looking for a little extra fun that day, head over to Crackhead Forest for the Renaissance Fair from 10 a.m.

to 5 p.m.

There's costumes, music, vendors, magicians.

Last year there was sword fighting out there, so yeah, it's definitely an event.

Commending our E911 heroes.

Finally, I want to recognize one of our outstanding E911 dispatchers who once again provided life-saving CPR instructions over the phone.

Thanks to their calm professional guidance, a life was saved.

This kind of training and compassion truly represents the heart of our city employees.

We are proud of you and grateful for your service.

And it's the young woman who was just here a couple of weeks ago, Gracie Gracie Dody.

Is she here tonight by some chance?

This is her second time, by the way, of saving someone's life on the phone.

And it amazes me that that can that can happen.

So we'll maybe mayor will send her some kind of accommodation or recognition.
