First up is resolution 26031.

A resolution authorizing the city of Jonesboro to enter into a two-year lease contract for the purchase of five sanitation side load trucks, one sanitation front load truck and one sanitation rear load truck.

Whereas the City of Jonesboro continues to see a need and desires to maintain the current rotation of heavy equipment for use in the sanitation department.

And whereas the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas approved the 2026 budget in resolution 25196, which included the lease obligations for five sanitation side lows truck trucks, one sanitation rear load truck, and one sanitation front load truck.

And whereas the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas desires to enter into a two-year lease contract with RVS Bank for five MAC automated side load trucks, one Mac front load truck, and one Freightliner Rear Load truck from River City Hydraulics Incorporated.

The financing proposal for the trucks is attached here to be resolved by the city council of City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, the section one, the mayor, Harold Copenhagen, and City Clerk, April Leggett are hereby authorized by the city council for the city of Jones to rescue all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.

So we'll pay a total of just like three million, I'm sorry, two million.

We'll pay a total of about if are we going to do the balloon payment?

Do we usually do the balloon payment?

Yeah.

Um we'll pay a total of um $3.1 million, 2.9 of that will be principal, and the interest will be about $210,316 and 31 cents.

We anticipate that the that the dealer will uh execute the buyback at the end of that contract term as we've done the previous two.

So just to clarify, these aren't the same seven trucks, these are trucks.

That is correct.

They are it is all 2026 trucks.

So that is correct.

They're brand new trucks, yeah.

My mistake.

Yeah, yeah.

I know after two or three years of repair and maintenance costs starts being really high on these trucks.

So I know from personal experience.

This has been very successful for the city and the sanitation department.

And also getting to pay it out over months instead of having to come up with it all at one time.

That was the last item under new business.

Yeah.

Just want to give you guys a quick update on the uh basketball season we just concluded.

We had six weeks of youth basketball.

Um we had nearly 975 kids signed up for basketball.

Um 37 games every Saturday over the last uh six weeks.

Um we had 7,717 paid attendees that attended to basketball.

Um between all of our expenses, revenue, etc.

We uh made an overall net of three thousand um thirty dollars and ninety-two cents.

And so youth basketball is pretty solid.

Um concessions were really well.

Um doing a really good job with uh with expenses.

Staff has done a really good job on that.

So just want to give you guys a quick summary of youth basketball.

Um field sports will start this weekend, so in another six weeks, I'll bring another summary back to you guys.

Um also have a quick summary of the two volleyball tournaments that we held back in January, February.

Um, there was uh a question about um the revenue that we generated in that tournament.

We generated to about 70.

If I can have my numbers real quick, um about $70,000 we generated on those two tournaments.

Um the icebreaker, which was the first one, it was the largest one.

We um ended up profiting about $995 on that tournament.

Um it had a lot larger, and then in the we care tournament, we ended up losing about $7,500.

So those two tournaments in the tournament business ourselves, we really lost about six thousand five hundred and five dollars on those tournaments.

So um I can get you guys if you'd like, I can email you an expense report if you want to see that, have a look at that.

It's really tough to be in a tournament business.

That's why we've kind of stepped away from that that realm in Parks and Rec and really concentrated mostly on our youth sports programs.

I have the questions that doesn't return to that.

Um I guess here lately I've been uh people asked me about the way that they're gonna pay that credit card and stuff like that, and I keep wanting what what about all these people that don't have a credit card?

So we are we are actually demoing a cashless option tomorrow with the finance uh department.

Um we hope to probably not by opening day of field sports on the 4th of April, but by the 11th of April, we hope to be able to offer a cashless option at all of our events, and we'll continue to purchase that equipment throughout the season to be able to be cashless at all our facilities.

We're not gonna go completely cashless, we're gonna offer a cashless option.

So you'll still be able to pay cash at the gate and the door and the concessions, but we will offer that option to use credit debit card for those events.

I asked that question that you know a lot of people ask me about uh talking with with me about that, but you know, matter of fact, they were I guess because I worked at ASU one time, they were talking about how SU was losing a lot of money behind the cash is still, and and I I don't uh for the people in Jonesville that don't have cards or that type thing, it kind of bothers me that they can't be able to enjoy the other items that other people do that have a card, yeah.

Our goal in parks is to never discriminate against people that don't have access to credit or debit cards or don't want to send their kids with the credit or debit card to an event, but we want to offer that option for those people that feel like that's easier for them.

And so we will we'll we will not ever be completely cashless unless told differently, but we want to offer that option for accounting purposes as well as um a lot of people that's all the transactions that they use.

I get and then the other question is will they will there be bargain days over at the pool?

I uh you know I have a lot of people, a lot of people uh have talked to me about how high it it costs to get into the the pool over there.

And and only thing I can do is just is as a council person just asked the questions, you know, will there be bargain days or will the tickets be the same or what what what how's that gonna work this summer?

Well are you so you're asking me if the fees be the same or the so we don't anticipate changing the fees the entry fees to our events at this time?

Um we're gonna evaluate that probably over the next six months as we go into this cashless transaction opportunity for sales, but we don't anticipate changing our fees.

There's such a thing as a season pass where someone can you know get a family season pass and uh save money by doing that instead of paying buying individual tickets, you know.

Yes, ma'am, that's correct.

We're gonna offer season pass for field sports this year.

Um you can buy those at the community center now, or you'll be able to buy those at the gate.

We're also offering a season pass at the pool this year.

Oh, okay.

To save money.

So that's that would be a little bit cheaper than buying individual tickets for a family.

Yes, ma'am.

And the season the pool season passes, they'll be a monthly and a seasonal.

Okay.

Had those going up, but they were like a dollar back then when that was you had a season pass, you're a big dog.
