Good evening and welcome to the regular city council meeting of the Joplin City Council. I call this meeting to order. Mrs. Nash. Gracious God, as we come to you this day to begin another session of the Joplin City Council, we ask that you impart upon us your wisdom and guidance so that we may promote justice, assist those in need, and provide for the overall well-being of the citizens of Joblin. Amen. Mrs. Carlin, I believe you have some special guests for us tonight. Yes, I do. I'd like to welcome to the front. Here to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance this evening is Dr. David Penning. Come on forward. He's an associate professor of biology and environmental health at Missouri Southern State University. He joined the faculty in the fall of 2016. And since that time, he has applied his academic specialty, Reptile Physiology, to create opportunities for student volunteers, habitats for several hundred snakes and reptiles, and some even on the federal endangered species list. Now, just so you know, there's only 30 veterinarian schools in the country. And they uh like Ms. Mizzou get got last year 1700 applications and only accepted a hundred and twenty students. But Dr. Penning has a 100% acceptance rate for his students going into veterinary medicine. And I think we are so proud of you. And you have a, you know, they those schools have a very competitive process. So thank you so much for the work that you do. And if you would now lead us in the pledge. Thank you very much. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands. Indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. I am grateful that it was a little too cold tonight to bring samples from your lab. Yeah, he didn't get to bring his friends. I was so disappointed. I was going to be a little concerned about how we were going to keep everybody safe with snakes dangling from the ceiling and critters crawling across the floor, but a little too cold for them. Thanks, and I look forward to coming out and checking that out real soon. Hey, it's super cool. You should visit. Thank you. Roll call. Mr. Bard. Ms. Carlin. Present. Mr. Koppel. Present. Mr. Ditar. Present.
