Meeting Transcript
Good morning. I'd like to call this meeting to order. We'll begin with an invocation led by Councilmember Parker, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Lloyd. Please rise as you're able. On this beautiful Saturday morning, we gather for a new beginning for the city of Knoxville. New leadership has been chosen to help lead us forward over the coming years. As we embark on this new chapter, we ask that you inspire us to serve the needs of all residents, especially the vulnerable, and to build a more inclusive, compassionate city where everyone can thrive. Guide us to a purpose bigger than ourselves. Help us to bridge divides and embrace the spirit of collaboration for the common good of all of our residents. Bless this new chapter with hope, resilience, and courage to tackle the challenges ahead, with bold initiatives that position our city for success in the years ahead and improve the lives of the residents we serve in the here and now. In peace and unity. Amen. I'll pledge over the vision. Okay, Ms. Hopper, would you please call roll? Councilwoman Adams? Here. Councilman Debart-Laban? Here. Councilwoman Fugit. Councilman Grant? Mr. Frost, could you go over the process, please? Yes, thank you, Mayor. Briefly, this is for members of the public as well as members of the council. You do not have to have someone else place your name into nomination for uh any of the three seats or positions that are being elected today. Uh the uh assistant recorder will call people's names, and you have the opportunity to say whether or not you are interested in the position, and uh if you're going to uh nominate uh a person. Thank you. Okay, so we'll start with uh vice mayor. Are there nominations from council? Yeah, we're gonna you're gonna call uh Ms.
