For possible action amends various provisions of LVMC Title 7 related to the regulation of pet shops, including requirements for animal enclosures and housing, disease control and quarrant quarantine of animals with a communicable disease and warranties for the sale of dogs under 12 months of age.

And item number six, bill number 2025-14, abeyance item for possible action amends provisions of LVMC Title 7 related to the penalties for violations of various provisions of LVMC Title VII and prohibit newly licensed pet shops from selling dogs, cats, rabbits, or pot-bellied pigs.

This is sponsored by Councilwoman Nancy Bruney and Mayor Shelley Berkeley, and I believe this has a request to be stricken as well, which will be my motion.

On pages five and eight, we clarified that the new provisions in the bill will be prosecuted only as civil infractions, which is also how the county handles these violations.

And on page nine, we added an effective date of October 1st, 2025, which lines up with the county's effective date.

And I have learned a lot about e-bikes and scooters over the course of the last month.

I'm grateful that Councilwoman Bruni brought this forward.

It seems like there's lots of opportunity for improvements within Southern Nevada.

There are representatives, I believe, from Metro and our Department of Public Safety.

If they want to come forward, I'll give them the time.

But you don't have to.

I just uh for the record, uh Jason Potts, Chief Department of Public Safety City of Las Vegas.

Um we we're in support of this ordinance.

Um, obviously uh with e-bikes and e-scooters e-scooters, there's uh a safety consideration.

Um these bikes and scooters go pretty fast and it it causes issues uh in our parks, uh not to mention there's potential for damage of our grass in our parks uh and those kind of things.

So uh we're in support.

So just wanted to put that on record.

And just because we are uh we have our marshals, but we also work with the Metropolitan Police Department.

Uh I did check with Metro, they were uh supportive of this bill as well.
