Further debate favored the group homes/child care/land use topic because it had no existing convener and directly impacted neighborhoods. A motion was made to designate this combined topic (group homes, child care, conditional use permits, and state licensing) as the focus for 2026. The motion passed unanimously.
- Preparation of Reports (Agenda Item #7): Following the selection, staff discussed next steps, including compiling a report on the scope of the issue, engaging jurisdictional planning directors, building officials, state licensing agencies, and legislative affairs teams. The board agreed that a report should outline local ordinance differences, statutory requirements, and potential policy changes. Staff will present an update at the next meeting. No formal action was required other than direction to staff.

I'm on the phone. Oh, yes. Councilwoman Ashurst. Thank you so much. And for those on the phone, thanks you very much for taking the time. I appreciate it. And I'm assuming we're in compliance with the open meeting law. We are. And item number three is public comment. Comment during this portion of the agenda must be limited to matters on the agenda for action if you wish to be heard. Uh your time is now. Please come forward. Hearing and seeing none, we'll close the public comment period. And item number four is for possible action to approve the final minutes by reference of the regular meeting of the February 24th, 2026. Move approval. Aye. Any opposed? Aye. Hearing none, that passes. And moving on to item number five discussion for possible action to select a Southern Nevada Council of Government's logo. The most important part. Thank you, Mr. Chair Seth Floyd for the record. Well, I was gonna say that uh I think you are all uh expecting to be so successful that you need to make sure you can market yourselves. So to make sure you can do that appropriately. Uh we have developed three mock-ups of some potential logos for you to vote on. And they are on they should be on your screen now. And we will open it up for you all to pick one. And if we vote on that, we can move forward. I will tell you um, never mind, because I think staff pick one that's not up there. So never mind. I was gonna say staff put one on the front of my binder, but it's not one of the ones that's the only distinction is the shades of blue. I'll I'll defer to Marco because Marco commissioned uh the development of these. But I believe these were approved through uh through through the city in terms of uh there is only one variation on uh the theme here. It's I believe it's the color and the shading.
