- Flood Control Capital Improvement Plan (Item 67): Acting Public Works Director Michael Cunningham reported on the city's 10-year capital improvement plan for Regional Flood Control District facilities. Funding comes from one-quarter of 1% of county sales tax, with the city receiving 32.7% of the regional share. The FY2026 program was about $160 million; FY2027 is estimated at $164 million. The city's 10-year share is $370 million. Completed work includes 22 detention basins and 34 miles of improved channels and storm drains. Design-phase projects include the Owens Avenue, Stewart Avenue, Alexander Road, and Brent Lane systems; construction underway includes Charleston Boulevard and Iron Mountain Road; first-year-eligible projects totaling $135 million are planned over the next three years. The annual maintenance budget for the coming year is $4 million, and the 10-year local drainage project budget is about $36 million. No action was required.

And so, Lord, with humility, as your word instructs us to, we come to you, as our founding fathers did from the origin of this country until today, we practice the tradition of taking a moment to humble ourselves before you, recognizing that if the Lord doesn't build a house, they labor in vain that build it. And so in all the proceedings that are going to go on today, times when we will celebrate, times when we will challenge each other with ideas. We'll look forward to the future with uh inspiration of what you could do through this community. We ask for your wisdom. We pray that you would bless us as a community. He's a marine, and he'd been with Metro uh since 1923.
