So I'm Patrick Cruz, the uh the chair for the historic preservation advisory board.

Carrie Gregory, member of the preservation advisory board.

Um Rachel Adler, I'm a new member of the historic preservation advisory board.

I don't know if you want me to say anything about my background.

Um so I've been um in Los Alamos for about 16 years.

Um my background is in archaeology.

I have a master's in historic preservation, and I've been working in preservation with the National Park Service for um about 14 years.

So the the first thing is to looks like the approval of the agenda.

So do you want to everyone's looked at the agenda and make a motion?

Uh Patrick, may I may I request an amendment to the agenda?

Sure.

Can we delete um the work plan?

Can we um table the work plan until the next meeting and then uh remove the actually pond ballards from the next meetings, which is missing that today.

So if we can please um amend our agenda.

So it's it's moved it's uh um so then next part is the approval of the minutes.

So do we want to make a yes?

I move to approve the meeting minutes of April 1, our last meeting.

So then we're going to Section D public comments for items not on the agenda.

Then to historic preservation business.

So we've got we tabled the the work.

Um you please bring up the presentation uh attachments to the agenda items.

That was the third thing right there.

And uh we welcome Jennifer to come and present and start start the uh Ashley Bollard's presentation.

Whatever you're comfortable doing.

I think I think it's small enough can be cozy here, right?

Um so thank you for having me.

Um I'm here today because unfortunately I think we all see on the news too many times of a car departing the road, whether it's intentional or whether it's accidental, um, and going off into crowded areas where there's a lot of pedestrians.

Um safety became a prime factor for the county.

And as part of the safety, um it was decided to make sure that Ashley Pond was well protected, as we know Ashley Pond's a huge historic marker for the area.

It is um you know a marquee location for Los Alamos.

We have all of our music festivals there, we have crafts festivals and fairs and a lot of public uh you know, especially the music festival, right?

There are tons of pedestrians.

And as an interim measure, the county put out the Jersey barriers, and the intention was to actually uh put out a more permanent before this year came around.

Well, we started looking into the world of crash protection bollards, and it's the world is your oyster.

Like what do you want, right?

And so we thought it was a good idea to bring in a um uh landscape architect who's a little bit more experienced, and they can look into the background of Los Angeles and come up with some ideas, and they could give us these great graphics so we can actually get an idea of what it's gonna look like when they're implemented.

So we um had three concepts that we're bringing to the public.

This is our first concept.

We're calling it um the peer design in our survey.

And these are uh bollards that you can use as seats.

Uh we looked at a darker color based on requests from um perks and rec because of graffiti, and they were fond of of the round bollards as well because it kind of negates a lot of the skateboarding and some of the issues that they have with their um just throughout the parks and everything that they have to care for.

You know, they're just different angles of Ashley Pond, but they're all this this is all the same concept.

Here's Romash Pond Looking Out, directly from the road, what you would see.

Uh our second concept was to put planters and then some kind of uh another sphere in between to break up the planners a little bit, and that would also provide some seating.
