The Board of Supervisors held an abbreviated end-of-year business meeting on December 16, 2025, at 10:45 AM. The meeting focused on adopting the consent agenda, receiving ceremonial updates, and entering closed session for personnel and legal matters. No public comments were taken, as is customary for the last meeting of the year.
Well, good afternoon, supervisors. Good afternoon, staff, and good afternoon, loud. And like the call to order the December sixteenth, two thousand twenty-five, loud and county board of supervisors business meeting. This room has a hearing loop. If you need hearing assistance, please switch your hearing A's to the telecom mode. If you need a headset, we have those available as well. Um it's it's been a week. Um, and it's it was hard for me to think of um words of inspiration, uh, given the Bondi Beach uh Massacre, the Brown University, mass shooting, Rob Reiner, for gosh sakes. Um, so and call me corny, but uh I woke up to a song this morning that reminded me to be strong. And I'm going to paraphrase it here. It says, uh, harsh words and deeds can make a mocking bird forget she was born to sing. The world is hard on beautiful things. The world is hard on beautiful religions, it's hard on beautiful peacemakers, it's hard on beautiful governments like democracies. Um, the world is hard on beautiful people, uh, like Rob Reiner, who spent his life uh entertaining people and making what I think were credible, uh making credible commentary on our zeitgeist and on our, you know, what was going on in our nation. And uh so I'll just say, you know, I hope that we can come back after a little bit of a break and reflection and continue to shine, because if we don't continue to shine and we don't continue to sing and we don't continue to fight for what's right, then um we are losing an opportunity uh to do that. So the world is hard on beautiful things, but we can sing. Please join me in the pledge. Thank you, the Republic for what you stand under Godissible with liberty and justice for all okay. Um I do have a proposed consent agenda is just two items. It is the contract of work, construction of the Sterling Boulevard, Washington O and D Dominion Trail Overpass, and the contract award, automatic um external defibrillator and accessories. Thank you. Is there um I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda is there a second? Second. Motion is being seconded by Supervisor Turner, discussion on the consent agenda. Where Mr. Saints go. I know I was gonna say I can talk again about that great W know D overpass. No one have a consent agenda discussion on the W O and the overpass. Okay, you know what? Yay, WO in the overpass of Mr. Saints has been working on since 2016. I'll be more excited once we see dirt moving. Okay. All right, thank you. All right. Anybody else have anything on the consent agenda? Because Mr. Grinch, who's uh uh uh Karan who's uh does not want to talk on it, so okay. Ba humbug is right. All of people say aye. Any opposed? That motion will pass nine zero. Um my my organization updates today are are few. Um, so I'm sorry, I'm I just walked in, so I didn't get to write them all down. Uh we I did do leadership grade in Washington. Um it was at the uh children's um the children's hospital in DC. And this um this month's theme was mental health. Uh it was um all the things that we've talked about on this board already, um, except for the fact that that that there is um a growing and valid concern about mental health amongst our young people, especially our adolescents. Um sometimes I say I listen girls versus voice, it's it's both, it's both. Um much of what we're seeing is being attributed to uh this crisis in social media, and I'll talk about that uh a little more.
