Um it's it's been a week.

Um, and it's it was hard for me to think of um words of inspiration, uh, given the Bondi Beach uh Massacre, the Brown University, mass shooting, Rob Reiner, for gosh sakes.

Um, so and call me corny, but uh I woke up to a song this morning that reminded me to be strong.

And I'm going to paraphrase it here.

It says, uh, harsh words and deeds can make a mocking bird forget she was born to sing.

The world is hard on beautiful things.

The world is hard on beautiful religions, it's hard on beautiful peacemakers, it's hard on beautiful governments like democracies.

Um, the world is hard on beautiful people, uh, like Rob Reiner, who spent his life uh entertaining people and making what I think were credible, uh making credible commentary on our zeitgeist and on our, you know, what was going on in our nation.

And uh so I'll just say, you know, I hope that we can come back after a little bit of a break and reflection and continue to shine, because if we don't continue to shine and we don't continue to sing and we don't continue to fight for what's right, then um we are losing an opportunity uh to do that.

So the world is hard on beautiful things, but we can sing.

Um my my organization updates today are are few.

Um, so I'm sorry, I'm I just walked in, so I didn't get to write them all down.

Uh we I did do leadership grade in Washington.

Um it was at the uh children's um the children's hospital in DC.

And this um this month's theme was mental health.

Uh it was um all the things that we've talked about on this board already, um, except for the fact that that that there is um a growing and valid concern about mental health amongst our young people, especially our adolescents.

Um sometimes I say I listen girls versus voice, it's it's both, it's both.

Um much of what we're seeing is being attributed to uh this crisis in social media, and I'll talk about that uh a little more.

I was gonna say our next meeting, which is literally next year.

Um, but um there there's some stats and things that I will share.

I also um uh did we did MVTA um nothing new on MVTA.

Uh I I did as MVTA chair appoint a nominating committee for the MVTA officers next year.

I will stand the next year um again if they will accept me to be the chair of MVTA again next year, I'll be happy to do that.

Today was monumentally important.

I was honored to be invited to uh be at the unveiling of the Barbara Rose John statue in Statuary Hall of the United States Capitol, Barbara Barbara Rose Johnson, of course, was the um very young woman who was 16 years old, let her uh classmates out of school in a uh protest um uh be for uh against what was said to be um separate but equal, but we all know was never equal.

That case became one of the uh five cases that led to the Brown B Board of Education.

Lee statue um that was in statutory hall in statutory hall, all states can have two statues.
