And uh this is the loud county communications for commission meeting.

Um did have apologies from Commissioner Bybie and Commissioner uh Ryan.

Um for the record, uh we've got uh commissioners Kennedy and uh Commissioner Stone both uh not in attendance tonight.

Most of us are here, so thank you.

Um and uh on to the agenda and the minutes.

First question uh did anybody not receive the agenda for the evening.

There are any changes or amendments to the agenda.

Then there's an objection, the uh minutes from our last meeting are adopted as drafted, and on to the um sorry, that was the agenda.

Uh on to the minutes, the minutes from our last meeting have also been shared.

Anybody not see that any uh changes, corrections, or adjustments to the minutes from this meeting from July 28th, seeing in hearing none, then without objection, maybe minutes from our July 28th meeting are adopted as drafted.

Next order of business then is uh public comment discussion.

We have nobody from the public here.

Nobody that had signed up in advance, which brings us to uh a minor update to the bylaws.

Um seen in the agenda, uh a couple things that were added.

We need a short discussion on a on a uh few pieces of that, and then the third part is fairly straightforward.

Um namely, so this is based on the uh template that comes down from the county um for all commissions.

Uh there are three changes here.

First, um is in section three B that should have been included in the distribution as well, copy of the existing bylaws.

Um is basically just uh taking excuse me, 3B1.

Um, whether or not we uh desire to have any limits on how many consecutive terms uh commissioners may have.

And then secondly, and for A1, similar similar question, should there be limits on the chair and vice chair roles, uh and how many additional consecutive terms they could or may or may not have.

And the third change is simply uh referencing the member of the commission that comes from the um Lounge County Public Schools, uh specifically adding language as duly appointed internally to the respective uh agency.

Hopefully non-controversial.

So um I'll open the floor to discussion.

Any comments or thoughts on should we have limits?

And if so, what should they be first on uh consecutive terms of commissioners themselves, and then secondly, uh on the chair and the vice chair.

Any opinions, thoughts?

So how how um this is the this is not a right word.

How popular is it to be part of the communication commission?

Do we have people beating down the doors who want to be members?

Is it something that the supervisors have to really you know work on to find folks?

Uh the nature of the question is the more attractive it is, or the more popular the position is to be on the commission.

Perhaps that would motivate a shorter time span for those who are serving.

I have the impression that we are not one of the more popular ones, and as such, I don't think that's an issue.

But it just wanted that seeming.

Uh my I mean the chair's impression is very similar that there's um when there's been uh vacancies in the in the commission, it has taken a little bit of time to rebuild them.

We haven't had necessarily a deep view of um uh applicants wanting to be considered wanting to uh fill vacant as they come up, right?

Oh I have no certainly extended certainly um one uh edit we can have in there that it's members may be reappointed to any number of consecutive terms, simple enough.

Um any other thoughts.

Well, I mean, so it's I'm gonna be here as long as I'm in my role and um school system, so be hard to add the term limits.

I don't know why I'm okay.

It would be nine one and different.

So I think uh I guess my basic thought would be given given we're having an existential discussion about whether the commission is even gonna exist.

Uh I think it's kind of a move point discussing term moments, right?

Yeah, I feel like this is rather profunctory, and we can probably move on to yeah, I I think it's I think we should just I I I would suggest we just table take I think it's a move point to even discuss term moments, or as you said, perfunctory to to discuss it.

I don't I don't think it's worth discussing at this point.

And so to your point about uh so territory to uh about beating down the doors.

Um yeah, I mean I had reached out to my district supervisor on the board.

Um I guess close to two years, a year and a half, maybe almost two years ago now about the the uh mobile tower issue, and that's how I I basically got Shang tied into this.

Was she was like, Well, we have we have an opening, would you like to serve on the commission?

Well, sure, okay.

If you're asking me to serve I will serve.

Um I didn't even know there's a commission at that point.

So um, yes, people were not exactly beating down the doors.

A lot a lot of people, and when you look across the county in general, there's a lot of commissions that don't have people serving.

So I mean, it's a bigger thing, volunteerism is a thing, right?

So any similarly, any thoughts on chair or vice chair?

Well, let me I'm just on the commission.

I think it's actually a good idea to have limits.
