The Mason City City Council held its regular meeting on November 15, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the Mason City Public Library. Mayor Bill Shickle presided, with councilmembers Adams, Toma, Simmons, Yeski, and Massan present (Councilmember Lee absent). The council adopted the agenda unanimously, received a Kosovo delegation, issued a Small Business Saturday proclamation, heard public comments, approved consent items, conducted a public hearing, and passed a zoning amendment to facilitate a major golf course development.
And good evening, everyone. Welcome to the regular meeting of the Mason City City Council. I'm Mayor Bill Shickle. We're delighted to have you with us this evening. This is the meeting for November 15th, 2022. The first item of business is the roll call. Diana, would you call the roll? Adams. Present. Toma. Yeski. Here. Simmons. Present. Here. Councilmember Lee is absent. Let the record reflect that we do have a quorum present. The next item of business is the adoption of the agenda. Is there a motion to adopt the agenda? Motion to approve motion to prove agenda. Second. We have a motion and a second discussion. All those in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. All those opposed, same sign. The motion carries. Mayor, good evening, welcome. He's been spending the day with us here in Mason City. We're delighted to have you with us. Uh is as well. Along with the Chief of Mission for the Kosovo Council at Des Moines, Artan Duraku, Artan, and the first Secretary Fitmar is here as well. And I want to thank Councilman Joshua Massan, who has really coordinated the uh visit today along with uh Lindsay James from uh visit uh Mason City, and we've just had a great time uh learning uh about uh Kosovo and learning about uh De Chan. And um it's really been an exciting opportunity. Iowa has a long-standing sister city relationship with the Republic of Kosovo. It's a vibrant emerging democracy in southeastern Europe with actually many similarities to Iowa. Uh it's famous for as a center for culture and tourism, agriculture and mineral mining. Uh the partnership has been connecting Iowans and Kosovars across all sectors of society. We're delighted to be continuing that today. Special thanks warm welcoming today. I am been amazed. For the uh warm people, welcoming people, and for welcoming us in all our businesses. Goes uh for another time, 23 years ago, our nation was before uh physically and biologically uh to be destroyed. Uh for Andreemus Khanperhur and I'm reconnent Padonu of Nivand. Uh Mimunyos. So uh this thanks goes to the United States of America who helped uh with intervening to prevent uh the rape of women, uh killing of uh children and massacring uh entire uh population. So USA has created another state in Europe that is Republic of Kosovo. Proclaimus. This is why we are thankful uh always. Uh in the state, not taking a portion post. I have tried to explain or to describe the history of my city in the first meeting that we had today.
