Mequon Common Council Regular Meeting – March 10, 2026

The Mequon Common Council convened its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 8:29 PM, following the Sewer Utility District Commission meeting. All nine members of the Council were present. The Council unanimously approved all resolutions on the agenda, including a significant amendment to a streetscaping project to add a right turn lane. The meeting adjourned at 8:46 PM.

Consent Calendar

  • Approved the minutes from the Architectural Board (Jan. 12), Common Council (Feb. 10), Festivals Committee (Jan. 19), Finance-Personnel Committee (Jan. 13), Public Welfare Committee (Dec. 9, 2025 & Jan. 13), and Public Works Committee (Dec. 9, 2025 & Jan. 13).

  • Approved Resolution 4268, a Development Agreement with Granville Ridge, LLC for a 13-lot conservation subdivision.
  • The Consent Agenda was approved by voice acclamation with 8 ayes.

Public Comments & Testimony

  • No members of the public offered comments.

Public Officials' Reports

  • Mayor Nerbun announced that the Park and Open Space Board has three or four vacancies and encouraged residents to apply via the city's talent bank application.
  • City Administrator William Jones reported that the new automated brush site will open on April 7, 2026. Permits and key cards for the 2026 season will go on sale starting March 16 at City Hall and the Public Works facility. Residents must complete a short enrollment form.

Discussion Items

  • Resolution 4273 – Streetscaping Port Washington Road: During discussion of the $2.5 million streetscaping contract, a council member expressed support for adding a right turn lane near a new aesthetic center, arguing the intersection backs up during rush hour and the cost ($150,000) was within available TIF budget capacity. Alderman Brian Parrish asked if the item was in the base bid. It was confirmed it was not, due to separate design timelines. An alderman motioned to amend the resolution to include the turn lane. The original motioner and seconder accepted the amendment.
  • Resolution 4277 – SCADA System Replacement: The resolution had already been recommended by the Mequon Municipal Water Commission and the Sewer Utility District Commission.

Key Outcomes

  • Resolution 4269 (T-Mobile License): Approved. Extends cell tower lease through 2056.
  • Resolution 4270 (City Server): Approved by roll call (8-0). $110,000 contract with Office Technology Group.
