This is probably one of the shortest uh study sessions we'll have, but uh just wing that um I'll just wing it.

I wanted to say happy Hispanic Heritage Month.

Uh September is happy um his Hispanic Heritage Month, and so I wanted to recognize that, and there's quite a few celebrations throughout the city.

Um East Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has their multicultural fair and um El Grito on September 13th in Pioneer Park, as well as there's other events.

So um just wanted to recognize um uh a large number of our um residents are um Latino, including my husband.

So I wanted to recognize that um and that heritage in our city, which is very important.

Um and the other thing is uh this morning in recognition or in the kickoff of the um Love Your City week, which is a uh a week of service in our community.

All this throughout this week, um there will be all kinds of events for volunteers for people to come together and make a difference in their city um by various activities.

This morning I went to Aster Aging and um attended a gathering of veterans.

They were having some um some coffee and donuts, and we chatted with them and there was some activities afterwards, and um it was you know when you go, you expect to give, and especially on Love Your City and a day of service, but just the time there, it was such a gift to me.

And I wanted to say thank you to Big A.

He was um a veteran of the Vietnam War and the airborne uh division, uh the Army Airborne Division, and the stories that he shared with me or just touched my heart, and he's a remarkable man.

Actually, he served actually on the council member and mayor, but he told me stories um that happened uh during the war that just moved me greatly and um and what I learned from him.

So to especially to all our veterans, thank you for service for those who serve them in Vietnam War.

Just to add on to what Council Mr Duff said, Saturday is the 9-11 day of service, and there are so many service projects that will be happening all throughout the city.

There will be ones at schools, churches, that there's a church by me doing a big huge interfaith one.

I know there's a huge one in Mount View.

There's they're all over the city, and there will be something at a time that works for you, at a location that works for you that you could help and join in.

I just wanted to um alert you all to the fact normally this Thursday we wouldn't be reviewing an agenda because the the 22nd meeting is so far out, but we're gonna have an early draft uh to you tomorrow so that we can review that on Thursday morning because the next week on the 18th, we're having our um strategic planning session that morning, and so in order to keep us focused and on on time that morning, we're we're not going to review the agenda that morning.

So we'll review it this Thursday, and then of course we'll review it again the Monday prior uh during the study session before the meeting that evening.
