- Power Box Wraps Discoloration (3.2): Judy presented photos showing sun damage and peeling on several power box wraps installed in 2021 via a Main Street grant. The original wraps lacked UV protection; newer wraps include it. Replacement cost is approximately $3,000 per box. The commission discussed options, including applying for a new Main Street grant and consulting St. George printers. A motion was made and seconded to require that all future public art projects include a maintenance provision, which passed unanimously.
- America 250 Public Art Grant (3.3): Steve presented a Nevada Arts Council Target of Opportunity Grant for $8,500 to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. The proposal involves a suffrage-themed wrap on a power box featuring four Nevada women instrumental in women's suffrage, painted by Rochelle. The DAR also has related plans. The commission voted to pursue the grant, with a second motion passing unanimously.

Um, we'll move on to number two, the consent agenda, consideration of approval of the Monday, August 18th, 2025, Mesquite Public Arts Commission meeting minutes, and Monday, September 15th 2025, Mesquite Public Arts Commission meeting agenda. Any public comment? Hearing none, uh, any discussion. Can I have a motion to approve? I made it a motion. Sorry. Okay. Motion. Who was that? Uh I motion in George, I think. George first George second. Who first did it? Judy and Steve. I think Steve and I did it together. Yes. So Judy can uh have it. Judy wins. Okay. Okay, all in favor. Aye. Aye. Okay. Uh any opposed. Okay, motion passes. Number three, administrative items. Um 3.1 discussion on mesquite first Friday Family Art Walk update. Um, first we'll go for public comment. Okay. And then we'll go for discussion from Judy. Where are we at? Okay. We are making progress on the first Friday family art walk. Uh we've had several sponsors who have agreed to sponsor, but we have yet to get their checks in, and that's going to help pay for the flags and some of the signage that we have to have. The uh parks recreation department is very, very helpful with helping with uh a lot of the printing that we have to do, and also putting together a lot of the artwork that we have to do. And we've have vendor forms going out on social media, pretty much. And uh Mitzi has put together one that is um accessible via the uh Virgin Valley Theater website with a QR code to actually make payments through them and not having to walk in the forms to the say the art gallery, like the art gallery has to do. So, which is really a big help, I think. And um the parks recreation department is getting they are in the process, let me put it that way, of um cleaning up the Jimmy Hughes Center. There are several areas that were needing to be tidied up, let me put it that way. So, and they're in the process of doing that. So, and that's pretty much all I have right now. Mitzi, do you have anything? Cynthia? No. So Mitsi, do you have um people coming to you to want to set up tables at your um at the Jimmy Hughes? Yes, I currently have about seven nonprofits so far, and then I have the names that Judy sent me that I need to send out our QR code packet to vendors, but I will do that after our meeting that we will have at 12 o'clock today with the with our committee. Um the city has offered, I I guess they refer to it as suite one, where they have their tables and chairs and and where voting takes place, and they've offered to help us set up tables and chairs for in our eating area. Uh and the I just can't say enough about about Haido and Randy and the cooperation that you know.
