Good afternoon, everyone. Welcome to the Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 regular city council meeting at five o'clock. We're gonna get started. We're gonna start off with an invocation by Pastor Sue Tabor of the Mesquite Worship Center. Good evening. Father, we thank you for your presence here. We thank you, Lord, that your heart is that all things be done well and in decency and in order. And so, Lord, we release this meeting to you and to your direction. Father, we ask for your grace and your mercy, your kindness and your strength, your truth and your wisdom to be embraced here and practiced here by all that are here. And we thank you for it. Amen. Thank you, Pastor. We'd ask you all, please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Pledge. Our pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. One nation for God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. And now I would ask uh Amy Bradshaw to come on up and she has a presentation by Morph. I guess it would be. Okay. Thank you, Mayor. How does this work? Ta. Good evening, Mayor, Council members, and most importantly, citizens of Mesquite. My name is Amy Bradshaw. I'm a resident of Mesquite. I was expecting George Galt here, but he's not here. But I've been working with George Gauld, who is a former city council member and founder of Morph, which is Mesquite Opportunities Regional Fund for about the past year or so working on some grant matters. In the early summer, George and I learned about a grant offering from Travel Nevada. Now, Travel Nevada is a state's tourism agency, and they were offering an incredible grant opportunity that is intended to jumpstart tourism plan for two very lucky Nevada communities. We formed a committee to brainstorm this opportunity, and we've been meeting regularly. On the committee is Mayor Whipple, Simon Kim, and other city staff. Besides these city folks, we brought in representatives from area casinos, resorts, and other organizations and nonprofits. After much discussion and planning, Morph made application for a grant that centers on three goals. Number one, to position Mesquite as a top year-round family sports destination. Number two, to vitalize our downtown area into a vibrant visitors' hub. And number three, and most importantly, I believe, is to grow Mesquite's tourism through collaboration. I am very pleased to report that our grant application was accepted as one of the two communities to put to split proceeds in the amount of one million dollars. Now, this is a very unique grant, and this is where we need the community's help. Usually on a grant, you ask for XYZ. And if you get your grant, you give the money to buy XYZ. Not in this grant. It's different. Travel Nevada is sending us professional travel consultants who will tour our community's tourism asset inventory. They're going to meet with our grant steering committee. And here's where the community comes in. They're going to host two community listening sessions. They want to know what the community wants and how they see tourism developing in our city. Based on this information, a tourism plan is made, and Travel Nevada then makes a decision on how that one million dollars is split between two communities. Exciting, right? The first community listening session is scheduled for next Thursday, November 6th at 6 p.m.
