3.2 – Community Piano Update

• A $1,000 grant request to move a piano to the pavilion at the Mesquite Fine Arts Center was submitted and is on the City Council agenda for the following night. MPAC representatives will attend. A second piano from the museum (owned by the city) will be transferred to the Steam Center later. No further action was needed; item was informational.

3.3 – Revisions of the MPAC Brochure

• The commission reviewed and approved updated brochure designs, which included corrections (e.g., removing “Coming Soon” from the First Friday section, changing “Main Street America” to “Nevada Main Street”). 3.4 – First Fridays Update and Future Growth

• Mitzi provided a detailed update on the November First Friday event at the Jimmy Hughes Campus. Challenges included: last-minute cancellations of food trucks (corn dog truck and Fixology), five vendor cancellations due to lack of volunteers, and insufficient setup/teardown help. Mitzi personally purchased hot dogs and drinks to cover the food gap. Positive highlights: Delta Strait provided entertainment with lighting, Ace donated a bounce house (free), La Fonda’s sampling drew 90 visitors, and the mural repair by Impact was well received. Suggestions included creating a “Taste of Mesquite” restaurant sampling row and moving the kids’ zone to a lit area for colder months. Commissioner Bonnie noted the Fine Arts Center was crowded and suggested more attraction at both ends. Commissioner George highlighted the need for lighting along the route. The commission discussed maintaining event continuity through winter and the need for Impact’s stronger presence.

3.5 – America 250 Project Update

• Chair reported on a meeting with Tony Manfredi, Executive Director of the Nevada Arts Council, regarding the America 250 celebration. Steve submitted a proposal for a power box wrap featuring Nevada suffragettes; the Nevada Arts Council is also interested in funding a mural depicting the “past, present, and future” of Mesquite. The commission was asked to submit mural ideas and wall locations within a week. The council praised the existing power box wrap concept.

3.6 – Power Box Wraps Discoloration

• Bonnie and Karen described the condition of 14 power box wraps across town: most are cracking, peeling, and fading (some turning black). They located 13 of 14 original wraps; the missing one may have been paid for by the Rotary Club. M.O.R.F. (Mesquite Opportunities Regional Fund) allowed use of a Main Street Grant to request $5,200 to redo four sides of the worst wraps at $1,300 per side. Efforts to track wrap ownership via Clark County and M.O.R.F. treasurer are ongoing. The commission agreed to proceed with the grant application and continue searching for the missing wrap. No formal vote was needed at this time.

3.7 – New Statue and Wrap from M.O.R.F. Grant Items

• George presented a new statue titled “For the Love of the Game” proposed for the ball fields. The commission voted unanimously to approve the statue as an official MPAC project. A new wrap from M.O.R.F. funds was discussed but held pending further information on needs.

4.1 – Commissioners Comments and Reports

• Chair announced her intention to step down as chair at the end of the year but remain on the commission, citing travel plans. She encouraged other members to consider the role. The December 15 meeting may be canceled if a quorum is not present; members were asked to confirm attendance.
