Um few members of the public had brought up to me about the process of choosing the mayor pro tem.

So I would like to add an item.

One part being the process of selection of the mayor pro tem by the city council, and two part being the length of term of the mayor pro tem.

Is there any way we can inspire the charter committee to change the regulations so it's actually correct and everyone knows what they're doing?

So yes, you can speak to the charter committee.

There's different ways to address the issue in my mind.

One way is through the a change to the charter, and then you can you could do a more restrictive regulation as long as it's not inconsistent with the charter.

So the charter says it's gotta be elected.

It's pretty broad.

You could, in theory, have more rules like it's got to be done once a year, or it has to rotate, or who knows, whatever, you know.

And that's not for discussion right now, but it can be something that that's more restrictive than what we have.

The only question I have is could the mayor suggest the name and bring it to a vote.

The charter says it's just elected by the city council, so it would be someone from the council.

And and I in so like a change to say, well, the mayor's gonna say that.

That would have to go in the charter, because that would be inconsistent with what we we currently has uh, yeah.

So you're you're welcome to discuss individually with the charter, you know, keeping in mind open meeting laws, any member of the committee, and we've met where they're starting to work to get ready for the 2027 legislative session.
