Um as you stated, I'm headed down to Moapa Valley for their uh FMP meeting, and and it just reminds us that I think there is an FMP meeting next Wednesday, and I don't know if that's what it's called, that's what I call it.

Uh facility master's plan meeting for the schools.

Uh uh, and I believe that's next Wednesday evening uh at Virgin Valley High School.

So we just invite uh anyone like to give input on the long-term facilities plan for Clark County School District uh as it relates to Virgin Valley uh and also the entire uh school district.

They'll do a presentation that uh represents uh some of their thoughts and uh ideas, and also gathering input from the community, so that's what that session is.

Um, other than that, I know uh principal wait from the high school.

Uh let me know today he is uh out of town and he's not gonna be here tonight, so I apologize.

Um, just great things happened at Hughes Middle School.

Jadow Wilson, uh Hughes Middle School.

Um, yeah, we back the end of February.

Our robotics team uh had qualified two teams for state.

Um we had uh one of our team um qualified for the finals, finished ninth place overall.

Um another team that went missed out on the finals by two points.

Um, but overall, Mr.

Page and his crew did a great job with with robotics.

Um the first of the month, our band uh went to festival.

Um they received a superior rating, so I don't know how much you know about band.

They there's a one plus, a one, a one minus, a two plus, anyway, on from one to four, a one is a top rating.

Um, they received uh anything in the one area is considered uh a superior, so our band received a superior rating.

Um our orchestra uh went this past week um and received a rating of excellent, which is just under a superior rating, uh, which was great.

And I was able to go down and be there for both of those and support them on that.

Um right now at the at the middle school, we've got um two sports going in spring sports season.

Um we have our boys and girls soccer teams going, and then our boys and girls volleyball going.

Um soccer's had some growing pains this year due to some grades issues.

Some of my boys are struggling with, and so we're working through those issues, trying to get them back on track.

Um if if you want to see a group of boys excited about each other, come and watch our boys' volleyball team because they're short and can barely hit the ball, but they cheer for each other, and they are excited to be there.

They're they're uh a good group of boys, uh, but they're they're still learning the game of volleyball.

Um and then our girls are actually undefeated right now.

They're in first place in the North Um Northeast division that we're in.

Um they went to basic high school last weekend and competed in a tournament against several other of the undefeated teams in um CCSD middle schools and ended up in the gold bracket and and lost in the third game of the championship match.

So beat um a couple of the other number one teams in the overall number one team of the tournament.

Um we started uh sorry, excuse me, um our S Back testing this week.

Um uh yesterday we started and we'll finish up tomorrow with that, and then um jump into a couple weeks' worth of makeups.

Um makeups are always interesting, just you know, we it was great on on Wednesday of our 550 kids.

We're only missing about 31 kids.

Um, but all 31 of those kids don't show up to school on Monday and say, hey, I'm ready to do my makeups.

It's so we're hunting them down as soon as they come through the door, we nab them and get them in the library, and because it's just one day some of them will be there, next day some others will be there.

But kids have been excited.

Um we've we've used uh actually we in our grant last year we'd asked for some help with some incentive money.

Um so we've used that this year.

Um yesterday we did Gatorade and candy bars for just 16.

I know that's kind of a random number, but there were 48 bottles of gator eight.

I figured there's no use to go 15 for each, so we went 16.

Um gave it so we do we do incentive uh uh for them.

One just for showing up an attendance incentive, they get a ticket, and then the second is for effort.

Um, if the teacher walks around and notice they're working out on their papers, they're using um the teachers use a lot of different tools in the regular classroom teaching them how to write and take notes.

If they're taking notes like that, then they'll give them another ticket for effort.

Um so the yesterday we did, like I say, the Gatorade and Candy Bar.

Today we did um McDonald's gift cards.

We we did 10 per grade level on that.

Um, I mean, of course, the sixth graders are it's like you're giving them an all-expenses paid trip to somewhere with a $10 gift card to Disneyland, like whatever, or to McDonald's.

I mean, they they are excited, and one of one of their friends win.

It's awesome.

I mean, they cheer for each other and scream, and the seventh graders just push each other, especially if it's one certain group of friends, they go through the little pushing circle before they make it up to get theirs, and then tomorrow um we've got the fixology truck coming.

Um they're gonna be there for lunch.

And it also gives me a chance um to get that fixology truck there, and I buy we do we'll do 30 kids again, so 10 students from each grade level, and then I do a drink and a cookie for all of my staff members.

Um it just gives me a chance to tell them thank you for you know what they're doing and taking care of testing and getting us to this point and just all the things that they do.

Um, and and so that'll be fun.

And then we tomorrow at the end of the day, we'll actually we have six pair of beach headphones, and for kids that were there for every single test, um, they'll be eligible to be drawn for the headphones.

So we'll draw for two per grade level for that just to get them there for the three days.

Because I, you know, I've already had several kids.

Hey, I'm not gonna be there Friday because of softball tournaments, you know, baseball, whatever reason.

Um, but I've also, you know, I've had kids I we made sure you know I'm here the whole time.

So we we appreciate them being there.

Um the last one, and it's as part of my school performance plan, and something I've talked about here that I wish was better, but our our chronic absenteeism right now is hovering right about 25%.

Um just like I say we do on Fridays, it feels like it's a revolving door out of that front door.

So if they're if they're absent more than two periods, um it counts as a as a full-day absence and our chronic absenteeism, and especially in this spring season, you know, we've got so many kids that are not only on my teams, they're on club soccer, club volleyball, baseball, softball.

Um, I've got kids that are racing in different places, and they are headed out, and then I've got the kids that their friend leaves, and so they decide they don't want to be there, so they get picked up, and anyway, the whole ripple effect of that.

But overall, um, I mean, as far as the year has gone, uh, you know, super happy with with where we are right now.

Um, you know, we're great staff.

I've had some, you know, we've worked on a writing program this year called Think Cerca.

Um, that I've had their person that's my representative come and walk my classes and just reinforces you know the great things that we're seeing in our class.

And um anyway, that's what's going on at Hughes Middle School.

So I've got one too, so when you're done, go ahead.

Um, you were talking about absenteeism.

So when the kids are involved in sports, do they consider that an absenteeism?

So when they're involved in my sports, no.

When they're involved in a middle school, so my soccer and and volleyball and my volleyball right now doesn't leave, they leave at 2:30, um, because we don't play until 4:30 in Vegas.

Um, soccer will leave about 1.45.

School gets out at 2.14, so they're missing about a half hour of class.

But those are those are school approved absences.

Um, if it's club or anything like that, it's not approved.

It's or it's just an absence.

Okay.

The only thing that the forest that helps is like if it's a doctor's note, then they let us submit that.

But I have to have a note from the doctor saying that's where they were.

It just seems that if kids are involved in school activities, that should count as them being there and their participating as opposed to an absenteeism.

Because I think that would help that number quite a bit.

So been a really busy time.

I just got done with my SOT meeting.

Um so that's done for the month.

Seems like we just go through checklist, busy months.

We started our CRTs last week with our fifth grade science.

And then we are doing ELA or reading this week.

It's reading and writing, so they call it the ELA.

And then we finish up with math next Tuesday and Wednesday.

And then we'll be done with state tests.

And then district tests start on the 28th with MAP.

And it'll be the last round of map that we do.

The district and state have purchased a new contract with iReady.

So next year our they call them formative tests.

And so that starts in August will be the next testing window after this one.

So on the 28th, it opens, and I think we have to be done with map testing by May 10th or May 8th or something like that.

But I do I have to refer to our weekly announcements because there's so much going on and I don't want to miss anything, and then have somebody find out that I didn't announce their program or whatever.

So again, CRT tests end today for ELA.

We'll do makeup tomorrow.

And then next week's pretty busy, we have well the school district opens up on Monday with registration.

I don't know if that was mentioned by the other principal, but uh Mr.

Wilson, but uh district registration for the 26-27 school year starts Monday the 20th.

And then we have CRT map testing for math or CRT math test, yes, uh next week.

We have Take Your Child to Work Day on Wednesday the 22nd.

So that'll, I don't know if any of you are involved with that, but I did have a few of my teachers that want to bring students with them.

I'm like, why I grew up with my parents were teachers, but you know, they that we will have a few students on our campus that will be um following or shadowing their teachers on Wednesday, and then we have April is autism awareness month.

So we've already had our buzzle bubbles with autism last Friday, and we had every all 617 students on the playground with bubbles in hand.

If you ever want to see something super cool, that was a super cool thing.

And then we had three or four bubble machines.

But if you know anything about living in the desert at three o'clock in the afternoon, the wind kicks up, and so we didn't see a lot of bubbles stay around, they blew off pretty quick, but it was pretty awesome.

Um we have our hallways are lined with autism awareness posters and some of the artwork that the kids are are you know producing for us, and so this week they put up their blue hands, and so it's hand to heart, so it's pretty awesome.

So that'll go through the rest of the month, and we'll have some dress up days at the end of the month after testing gets out of the way to uh to celebrate that the last week of the month as well.

Um we also have on the 27th, um, actually the 28th, excuse me, is kindergarten roundup.

So if you know any families in the city of Mskete, if you are watching this, and I don't care if you're uh zoned for Joseph Bowler or Virgin Valley, you need to talk to the schools and get your kids registered.

But we do at Virgin Valley, it's called the Roundup.

So we'll have substitutes for all our kindergarten teachers.

We'll have our school psychologist, our assistant principal, anybody that we can grab will go in and and we have like 30 minutes with each child where we can do um like kindergarten assessments, so basic skills assessments, and then based on your grant from last year that we're going to replicate again this year.

We will select up to 20 students that are in high needs for um entering school skills because some of these kids that we get will never have picked up a pencil before.

They won't know what a crayon is, they will never have held scissors or sat on a carpet for more than 10 seconds at a time.

So starting then in our summer programs on the 27th of June or of May, pardon me, we'll have those 20 kids in two classrooms, 10 at a time, you know, 10 10 each, and we'll have teachers sitting there with them, just getting them getting ready skills, being able to sit, being able to understand what a you know how to use the tools of the classroom, what is a calendar, um, that kind of stuff, and that will go through June 18th.

So bless you, because that money will get a lot of those kids and give them three three and a half weeks, four weeks of time to get them ready to come back in August and be a little more prepared to sit in a classroom.

So that starts uh with kindergarten roundup on the 28th, and you just look at our our social media pages, go to our webpage, there are links that you can um little QR codes, and then you can make um I guess a reservation or reserve your time to come in for all our incoming.

They just have to be five years old by August 1st.

Then we have teacher appreciation week coming up.

At our school, we do a whole week.

Teacher Appreciation Day is actually May 5th.

But this year it starts on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, be with you.

And we're gonna do a staff appreciation week, and it's it's gonna be great.

So people are already talking about it.

So we'll do a whole week.

The PTO gets involved, luncheons happen.

Anytime you feed teachers, it's a good thing.

So that goes through, yeah, uh, May 4th through May 8th.

And then map testing does end.

So the last of the testing ends on May 8th, and then we go, and then we have two weeks of fun where we just wear ourselves out because the kids get to go to the pool and they get to do the triathlon and field day and all the activities.

So if you're ready, I'll give you the last two weeks of activities too.

And gut your pens ready.

So May 12th is a Tuesday.

Half the school will go to a triathlon and walk up Old Mill and spend about an hour and 10 minutes running a triathlon and swimming in the pool, and then they get to walk back.

On May 13th, the other half of the school will go, and while they're at swimming, the other half of the school will have yearbooks and they'll get to cycle through the PE room to sign have a yearbook signing party.

So that happens on the 12th and 13th.

Then on the May 15th, um, oh, that's a kids' parent meeting.

Okay.

I just wanted to make sure I got that in.

But if you're not part of the kids' program, and then on Wednesday the 20th, the last week of school, we have the grad walk, and that's when all of the seniors who went to Virgin Valley Elementary will come in their cap and gowns and they will walk the halls and be clapped out by our current you know K5 kiddos, and that's always awesome because most of the time it's the teachers that enjoy it the most, but it gives them a time.

I'm blessed enough that I get invited by the high school to go sit on the uh the stage at graduation, so I get to see them at graduation.

But the teachers who are such a big part of their lives, you know, they don't get that opportunity, but they will get that chance on May 20th.

So that's really awesome.

And then we have our achievement awards on Thursday, May 21st, and that takes all morning because we have to get six grade levels through.

So we'll probably do that from 9 to noon, and you'll get invitations or the parents will get invitations if their children are getting awards for that assembly.

And then we have the last day of school is May 22nd.

We serve breakfast, but we do not serve lunch.

Elementary lets out at 12 30, so kids will get on buses or they walk or whatever, and they go home at 12 30, they'll be hungry because we don't serve lunch because our lunch normally goes till after one, so we can't get everybody through the lunchroom, so we don't serve lunch on that last day.

Uh also on the last day, PTO always sponsors a field day, or you know, there's gonna be a field day this year.

PTO's gonna help sponsor that.

Yes, I got a thumbs up over there.

Good.

I got this man busy.

I'm just telling you, he's why it's helping us out.

So he he uh we're gonna try to get some help too because sometimes it's hard to wrangle.

We have like 15 different stations, and the kids get to rotate, so they might be throwing a water balloon and then they may be doing a bucket relay, and you know, they just move around and try to stay cool in the summer heat.

But we reached out to our uh amazing supportive um city police department and fire department to see if they can send some people over that may not be on shift at the time to help us out to run those games.

Kids always love to see see our city employees over there helping them out.

Um, so hopefully that comes together as well, and then that last day also, the fifth grade PTO always sponsors the fifth grade.

We'll do the same thing as the seniors, and they'll get clapped out of the school.

So at about 1220, send the kids in the hallway at 1225.

We'll turn on some music, and the fifth graders get to march through the hallways and get clapped out as well.

And at 12 30, they go out their front door and their sixth graders, and then they're Mr.

Wilson's issue.

I mean, he gets to have the fun after that.

So, but yes, we always try to you know recognize them for their hard work, and it's an amazing day and lots of tears and lots of balloons and hugs, but it's it's a pretty awesome thing to see.

So, and then um I believe I mentioned the um summer school.

So, students, everybody's off on the 25th, the 26th, the teachers come back, they have to sign out, clear the building, and then on the 27th, we have two kindergarten or pre-K rooms that will go the 27th, 28th, and 29th to give them a few extra days, and then we were able to partner with Mesquite Reads this year, and there's some grant funds left over they're trying to spend through the district.

So I will be able to also have a kinder first, second, and third grade class of students that will also be able to participate.

And right now we're just under 60 that have signed up to participate.

So we'll have summer learning going on through June 18th as well.

They'll they'll start Monday, June 1st with the mesquite reads and district monies, they get three less days because that's what the district said they'd pay for.

So they'll get the 14 days, the little guys will get 17 days over those three weeks or four weeks.

So it'll it'll all have to be done by Friday, the Juneteenth, it's the holiday.

So we're we're done by Thursday the 18th.

And then gosh, that's it, I think.

For for me, did I miss anything that you have any questions about?

Or oh, our chronic absenteeism.

We're sitting, I looked today because I was just in an SOT meeting, we're seeing about 22 percent.

So we were at 14.9, which was one of the lowest in two years ago, it was one of the lowest in the region, and then we went up to 16.9, and we wanted to get back to 14.9.

But we've had some kiddos out on some long-term medical issues and stuff.

So hopefully, through the medical process he was mentioning and the doctor's notes, the state will look at that percentage and refine that percentage, and then what reports on uh I think it's October 1st when they issue all the school uh report cards from the state, that will be a different number because they'll take into account all the medical at that time.

But right now I think we're sitting about 22 percent, which is a lot higher than we've ever been.

I think that's one of the highest numbers, at least since I've been principal.

But it is what it is, and hopefully we can get some help and some when they put in all the medical notes.

Put on my glasses so I can see all so um, oh my gosh, I went in and out of my head.

That's um you were talking about the absenteeism.

Um where was I going to say what caused it to change?

Like, is it is it actual absenteeism, or is it the way that the state or the the county is looking at it?

Like you said, a lot of it's medical.

Um, so we house at our school.

Um the way that it's set up in the valley, we house some special programs that utilize outside um doctors and things like that.

So sometimes those kids, you know, they may miss a half a day because they go out for outside, and then at J O Bowler, they house certain programs as well within that IDEA special education window, those windows.

So um sometimes as we look at the data and we'll break that down this summer, that might have an effect.

Um, but basically it's anybody that has more than 18 absences.

18, okay.

So because you it's 180 days, it's 10 percent.

Right now we're in like day 153 or something, and so anybody that has more than 15 absences, and you can see it on the chart if I can make it big enough, but every 10 days it drops because it starts to count over, and then it goes back up, and we're just so like we're 150.

So when we get to 160, we'll it'll drop down.

But the way it's going, we're trending about six points higher than we were this time last year.

So that you know, we were about that 16.8 or 16.9, and we're 22.

So it just at 150 days, you can have 15 absences.

Anybody more than 15 absences, they're chronic at 160 days.

Anybody that has one more absence, just one more, that's just they went from 15 to 16.

They still, but if they stay at 15, once we get to 160, they fall off the chronic absentee list.

That's why it drops.

So people parents don't sometimes understand that.

That's just one more absence.

Well, yeah, but if you're keeping pace with every 10 days, then you know you get to 180 at the end of the year, and you get to 18 absences, you leave that year as a chronic absentee student.

So it just it's kind of knowing how to play that game and making sure parents are aware that every day counts and it matters, and the way that the district has it set up, every every family, every child can have up to 10 prearranged absences.

So, yes, if you took those early in the year and you only had 70 days in, but you took there was a family wedding or a funeral, and you pre-arranged absences because you have to travel, they might be chronically absent through the first semester.

But starting in January, they'll fall off that list, and as long as you mind that, they end the year with 10 or 11 absences, they're they're way way away from being chronically absent.

And as long as you mind that, they end the year with 10 or 11 absences, they're they're way way away from being chronically absent.

But I think every month or so you see here a parent, and they're like, uh, we just gotta run to this one.

I'll just check you out of school.

Well, that just keeps adding up.

And so you just gotta watch how that ebbs and flows through the year.

Unfortunately, 180 is a is a hard stop.

I'm just going through our funding request.

Um, when Principal Wilson just my bad at the middle school fixes everything, so my bad on that.

Um when I submitted this uh cross-country volleyball were still unsanctioned sports in Clark County School District.

Um, they have since been proposed to be sanctioned.

Um, but um, and the the big butt on that is transportation.

Umsportation is not completely on board with volleyball at this point in time.

Um so for for this year for me to run volleyball.

Um I'm about $2,000 in officiating fees.

Um, and to date, about 1400 in charter bus fees to get our students back and forth to to Vegas, and that's just the generally one trip a week.

Um, I've got two more trips to Vegas.

Uh and then if we make the finals, uh, which will be the last week of April, then I'm not this for the regular season, they take all the schools using the transportation, divide the total cost of buses by that, and then split it up amongst those schools so I'm not getting stuck with a 1200 bill every week, and everyone else is getting you know two or three hundred dollars.

So they're helping us out that way.

But anyway, with that said, so there is a proposal online to have those sports sanctioned transportation isn't completely on board.

The other part of it is um they'll bring the sports on, but no not give me any money to run it.

So this year we had you know an old net and some stuff that have been at the school since I opened the school, you know, 20 years ago, 23 years ago.

Um so that would go to just upgrade equipment for us and make sure we have the things that we need.

The the second one is our hope squad.

Uh, I've talked a little bit about or a lot about them.

They the week before spring break, I guess I should have shared that.

We had our our hope week.

Um we had a guest speaker come down from St.

George that did amazing.

Um we partnered with um with the Eureka Community Initiative.

Um they paid, we did two assemblies on there about eighteen hundred dollars per assembly.

Um so they paid for one, we paid for one.

Uh but the hope squad just they do so much on my campus every every year with different activities and just positive messages and things.

Um so I that keeps that running.

My after school and clubs and enrichment activities, about 3,000 of that will go to just for like our entry fees and updating any of our robotic stuff that we need um for next year, um, our tournament fees and that, and then the rest will help our our other clubs, and then the last is the $1,500 towards our um, you know, any of our incentives.

We do Ruth Ponce's my registrar, does a great job every month recognizing our um students of the month?

We do straight A luncheons um every quarter.

Um we do readers of the month every month, and we try to do different things for them each month, so that would just help offset um some of the costs for those different incentives that middle school kids love.

You are you saying that you need more money to get the kids back and forth to places, or you're you're no, so right now I I can't tell you that because I don't I don't know what transportation is going to agree to do.

Um anybody that's been around the district for long enough knows transportation runs the show, like we school start times.

Um we last Friday we finally found out what transportation could do for our route so we could finalize school start times.

Um so for them, it's them agreeing that yes, we have enough drivers and we can make that happen.

So if it doesn't, we'll be in the same situation next year where we'll have to do charter buses, and then that would, and I'll know before then so I can gauge how much equipment do I replace and update and how much do I need to set aside to pay for because even like my officials, it's it's about a thousand dollars for the officials' fees for them for five games to officiate five games, and then it's another thousand dollars just for them to drive out here, so they make more money to drive out here to officiate the game than they do to officiate the game, but that's just the way mileage works for them.

And it's you know, we live in Mesquite, and so we'll make five trips into Vegas for volleyball, which is good this you know, next year it might end up being six or seven because of the growth of thank you.

I just want to make sure there's enough money there.

Uh we'll start at 7 30.

Okay, yeah, so 7 30 to 144 will be our times.

Um so doors will open at 710.

So I just went over this in my SOT meeting.

So I pulled up my SOT agenda so I don't forget.

Um they put out the list.

We're we're moving back 10 minutes.

So instead of 905, we're 915.

So instead of opening our playground at night, 845, it'll open at 855.

We're shifting back 10 minutes.

We ask to be held harmless, but again, transportation, even though they I won't say anything.

They just said that would be impossible to make that extra route and pick up and get kids there in the morning.

So we're gonna go with what they said.

And then um also I forgot to mention uh public input sessions for CCSD's master uh facility plan.

It's going on tonight in Wava Valley.

Uh our valley will be next Wednesday at 6 p.m.

at the high school for input on any adjustments they're gonna make in this valley.

So it'll be interesting to find out what they decided, and then virtual sessions.

Um if you go to the CCSD website and type in CCSD facility master plan, it'll take you to a separate page, and there's a schedule at the top for meetings.

You click on meetings, and you can do virtual uh you can attend virtually to like I think there's eight different virtual sessions as well to find out about that.

Sorry, I opened that, and then I also had I had my grant open.

Okay, so yeah, allergies they're worse this year, I think.

So um CAP grant for this year kind of mirrors last year.

I do want to tell you that yes, the principals got together and we we discussed our grants, and because of that, because I am spending 14,336, there is six hundred and sixty four dollars remaining.

So the high school took that and are utilizing that cooperation.

So but if if I could have goosed it and bought more paper, I guess, but then when we were talking, Mr.

Waite could use it, and students of the valley are still students of the valley.

So um anyway, so again I have a kindergarten assessment administration that will be three days before school starts, and it's not three days before August 10th, because that's when the teachers are expected to set up their classrooms.

It's three days before that.

So it will be like July 31st, second, first August 3rd and August 4th, and then August 5th, all teachers come back, and then the 5th, 6th, and 7th.

Well, all our schools will probably be doing an open house at some point, one of those nights, and then students start on August 10th.

Am I getting far enough ahead for you guys' notes?

I'll get you like and then next holiday season, we'll have our single.

And then we'll have kindergarten roundup again next spring.

And then we'll have a uh kindergarten summer bridge program, is what we call it that we tag on to the Mesquite Reads Summer Learning.

And so you add all of that up with subs and paper and glue sticks and all the fun stuff, and that's 14,336.

Or roughly.

That's what we're gonna ask to be printed on the check anyway.

So it may be a little more, a little less, whatever, but I like I say that's pretty hard numbers.

They're not unless they change how much subs cost or something like that.

Hi, I'm Nikki Metter with um Mesquite Works Team Center.

Just a little bit about what's going on over there.

Is um so far this year we've had over 2,000 visitors, and um we've offered 2,003 educational hours this year in classes.

So our attendance rates are about 63%, which isn't always great, but we're free, and some kids show up some week and don't show up the next week because they have other activities.

We see a lot of homeschool kids.

Um we have some new classes that we're offering, um, tinking tinkering and test lab, uh bits and bots class, which is a coding class with um I don't know how to explain it.

It's it's coding class where they build the circuit and then code the circuit, and then we're also offering a soldering class and a girls' um safe and sane class where they're learning safety.

So in those those classes, the kids should be out of school in time to attend those classes, unless they're doing extracurricular activities at the school, so which is always a possibility.

Um but I left a copy of the director's reports out there on the table if anybody's interested in them.

We have a lot of things going on.

We have a bowling tournament coming up next week that's a fundraiser for us, hosted by um Rotary Club.

We have a books and bots training, which is a teacher's training with in conjunction with DRI's Nevada Robotics on April 28th, it's Tuesday evening from eight four to eight.

So if I know the registration is closed for it, but if you have some teachers that are interested in it, just give a shout out, and I can get them on the list.

Um there's also a stipend included in that for teachers that might want to take it.

We have mesquite family days coming up, and do it best.

Um Heritage Electric and Eureka's helping fund our booth, so give a shout out to them.

Um we're doing marshmallow launchers, which will be a lot of fun.

Might want to dodge the marshmallows now.

They have a spot that they're supposed to launch them towards.

So and then we're hosting, we're going over and working with the kindergarten group um at Virgin Valley on May 1st, and then we have a large field trip coming from Henderson from Coral Academy.

We'll have 101 students out to the Steam Center on May 2020.

Um, especially this high school, um, putting in for the security enhancement with the window coverings.

something so don't mind yeah yeah like I said this um first of all I'd like to thank the principals um since the last meeting as I mentioned I was a new kind of black I wanted to meet with the principals and tour of the schools so I want to thank them for meeting with me over the last couple weeks and looking at the schools um but that brings up another point for me and maybe a discussion for another day but at least I want to introduce it here a little bit um especially this high school um putting in for the security enhancement with the window coverings Hughes Middle School already has them they're great I've seen them uh that's why I was in favor of this but what it what happened when I went through the four different through the different schools is that for security measures the only thing to be one thing it's uniform through CCSD then is one access point there are different things going at the schools it Hughes Middle School they already have the window coverings they have the one access point they all have one access point at the high school they want to get the window coverings now Virgin Valley elementary school has the one access point but it's controlled it's control it's lack control the buzzer system I think that somewhere along the line we need because we're looking for the schools in our valley here we need to get it all uniformed that would be my recommendation we may have to look into that more I'm definitely in favor of that controlled buzzer system to be honest with you um for the access point I just bring that up as an observation I made other than that I think everything was great going through the schools meeting staff the principals are great with me and everything else um but maybe if we can look at that in the future somehow yeah let's maybe maybe you and I so we don't get in trouble with open public meeting laws maybe you and I discuss and then we can come up with a game plan and maybe bring it back to the board and see how we want to do that.

So okay let's set something and let's set something up and get that on the next agenda item and get board input on how we want to do that.

I've got some ideas already so trying to speak to that is that out of my request comment just on the security upgrade.

Sure I mean it's we're we're pretty pretty lax here so J Dale Wilson for the record I'm learning um so we we are on on slate to have the security upgrades at our school and we do have the front doors the only way in but when you come into my front office there's a hallway that goes straight and out and there's a hallway to the left that goes down to my counselor's registrar.

So they will be putting doors there that you'll have to be buzzed into those doors um along with replacing our cameras and all of that so that's slated a start in August ish um there's 10 schools right now and we're number 10 on the list for them to start um the rest of the schools are all in town so we are working towards that um I did my prior previous school we did say we had front door was locked and we had a doorbell and I had an adult that opened the door I know there's some schools that have cameras on their front door and anyway so right now we are working on that being able to shut that down and that will keep us everything in front of my front desk so through CCSD's doing that right CCSC is doing that.

But that's your school they're not doing it in the other schools right now in the valley uh well there there will be security upgrades in in every school um it's just uh it's a rollout and a process I think have you guys have the lighting upgrade yet we did the lighting so you like they updated everything to LED lights or they're doing that but my school hasn't had that yet um we're we're getting a new AC and roof um from this last of money but it's just there's no rhyme or reason to how the rollout is honestly I I was at Lion Middle School in Overton two years ago and they have already have the new cameras um upgraded fencing and all of that and it was finished two years ago so why we're two years after uh and that's why I'm wondering how we can help my comments aren't directed towards you guys at all no I just want to let you know that it is in the works for the middle school I don't know what the high school knows yet about theirs thank you thank you any other comments I do have one so um the C have the grants so that will as soon as we find out when that's going to be on city council um Marco and I will let you know Marco's still working with with uh Julie and Bryce to get that public comment I think that's excellent.

Um hopefully city council is listening to that.

Um it just it's it's much easier, but if it's not then uh we'll we'll be here and and I'll plan on being here as well.

So I know that's historically how it's been on there is the consent agenda and it it perfect.
