  • Chair Steve proposed a sister city relationship with Smithers, B.C., noting its community piano. He has contacted the mayor but received no response yet. Julie advised consulting the city manager before proceeding. Steve agreed to reach out to the city manager.

Update on Battle of the Bands Proposal

  • Mitzi reported meeting with band directors from Jimmy Hughes Middle School and Virgin Valley High School on June 1. The event is planned for 2027. A Google survey will be used to recruit volunteers, mentors, and practice space. The goal is to encourage private music lessons and community involvement. The chair suggested involving tourism stakeholders. A motion to appoint Mitzi as committee lead was made, seconded, and passed unanimously.
