Whereas Emergency Medical Services is a vital public service, and whereas the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide life-saving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

And whereas access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury.

And whereas emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators, and others.

And whereas the members of the emergency medical services team, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their life-saving skills.

And whereas Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained individuals, and whereas it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical service providers by designating emergency medical services week.

Whereas public works professionals focus daily on infrastructure, facilities, and services that are essential and of vital importance to sustain to sustainable and resilient communities and to protecting public health, safety, high quality of life, and well-being of the residents of the city of Myanmar.

And whereas these infrastructure facilities and services could not be provided without the committed and dedicated efforts of public works professionals who are engineers, managers, and employees at all levels of government, who are responsible for planning, maintaining, rebuilding, improving, and protecting our city's transportation, solid waste systems, public buildings, streets and highways, landscaping, street lights, and canal maintenance.

And whereas it is in the public interest for the cities for the citizens, civic leaders, and children in the city of Myanmar to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest and understanding of the importance and value public works and public works programs provide in our respective communities.

And whereas the year 2024 marks the 64th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association.
