The Mobile City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The meeting included approval of minutes, communications from Mayor William Stimpson, a proclamation for National Health Center Week, public hearings on demolition of structures, and discussion of several resolutions. A key vote on the sale of the Dearborn Street YMCA property failed.
Regular meeting of the Mobile City Council Tuesday, August the 5th. Please stand for our invocation, led by Dr. Dan Taylor, public safety chaplain, and remain standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. I invite you to pray with me. As we go to the Lord, thank you. Lord, we humble ourselves in your presence today and ask you to hear and answer our prayer. God, we ask you to bless all of those that you've chosen to serve and lead this great city. And God would not asking you to bless those in high profile leadership positions who serve so well. But we ask you to bless those who serve in departments and offices throughout the city. Most of them work behind the scenes and often serve with so little or no public appreciation while they perform vital functions. Lord, we ask for your guidance in our conversation today as we discuss issues and make decisions. The psalmist reminds us, may the words of our mouths and the thoughts of our hearts be pleasing to you, O Lord, our strength and our redeemer. So we ask for your will to be done in all that we say and do today. They serve long hours. They serve at night while others sleep. They make our lives more safe. Give them wisdom, skill, and your protection as they faithfully carry out their duties. And Lord, I want to ask you to rise up an army of committed citizens who are willing to work together to find solutions to the problem of the senseless violence that we far too often see throughout our city. It's good to see everybody this morning. Welcome to our August 5th, 2025 meeting. At this meeting, we do have rules. At this time, I ask if anyone have any type of electronic device, including cell phones. Please at this time put on the offer of vibrated position, the offer or the vibrative position. Any person that is desiring to address the mobile city council must sign in, indicating the ordinance, the resolution, a public hearing agenda item before entering the meeting. We're addressing the council, the speaker must give his or her name. Any person that desire to speak to the council on a non-agenda item must contact the city clerk office no later than 2 o'clock P on the Thursday prior to the council meeting. The surgeon that he or she wishes to express that the Mobile City Council must be identified and pertain to the city of Mobile Business. Anyone who has not given a proper note to the city clerk's office and wish to speak on a non-agenda item would not be allowed to address this council. Each speaker is allowed three minutes to address this council. A bell will indicate the end of two minutes. One minute remain for summarizing. The second bell indicates that your time has expired. When addressing this council, there would be no personal address to any individual council members. All statements are to be made to the chair who recognizes any council member who wishes to respond. To maintain decorum, that would be known to applause or a public outcry allowed.
