The License Committee of the City of Monroe met on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 4:45 PM in Council Chambers. Present were Christopher Vestin and Tom Miller; absent were Corinne Wartenweiler and Richard Thoman. The committee approved two temporary alcohol licenses for upcoming community events.
Call to Order & Minutes
- The meeting was called to order at 4:45 PM. Minutes from the February 23, 2026 meeting were accepted as presented.
Discussion & Recommendations
- C.1 – ARC Green County Balloons and Music Festival: The committee discussed a Temporary Class B fermented malt beverage and wine license and beer garden application for the annual balloon rally scheduled for June 19-20, 2026, covering the entire fairgrounds. A motion to recommend approval to the Common Council passed 2-0.
- C.2 – Main Street Monroe's April Wine Walk: The committee discussed a Temporary Class B license and beer garden application for the April Wine Walk on April 24, 2026, covering 20 locations as outlined. The application was noted to be consistent with past events. A motion to recommend approval passed 2-0.

So we'll move on to correction of minutes of February 23, 2026. Chris, you have any changes? Neither, so we'll take it as written. Okay. Business discussion possible recommendation of common council. Temporary class B fermented malt beverage and wine license application for ARC Green County Balloons and Music Music Festival. Yep, so this temporary class B and the beer garden with it is for June 19th and June 20th for their annual balloon rally. And the beer garden will encompass the entire fairgrounds. Okay. Chris. So I'll say to move it on to uh city council. Is that a motion? Yeah. Motion to move on to city council. Second. Okay, motion second to move on to city council. All in favor say aye. Uh aye. No. So it moves on. Okay. Next is discussion of possible recommendation to common council temporary class B fermented malt beverage and wine license beer garden application for Main Street Monroe's April wine walk. So this is what be for Main Street Monroe's uh April Wine Walk. Um this uh includes all of those um businesses that are outlined in their application. Looks like I don't have the the beer garden set up, but it would be for uh April 24th and the other all the pull temporary class B and this would be for the the 20 locations outlined on the um Main Street Monroe's cover page there pretty much is it's been the same as the past no problem with you Chief Kelly okay and just so you guys are aware these are also special event permits that are going to public safety in the next meeting so okay I move that we approve it all second all uh you need more discussion no in favor say aye aye opposed none so moves on to city council business presented by members nothing Chris okay go ahead do the final thing I move that we adjourn all second all in favor say aye opposed we are adjourned thank you
