The Monroe Public Safety Committee met on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 4:55 PM in the Council Chambers. Members present: Lynne Kleven, Craig Franke, and Matt Sheaffer. Corinne Wartenweiler was absent. The meeting lasted approximately three minutes and concluded with unanimous approval of two special event permits.

- Approval and Recommendation of Special Event Permit: Main Street Monroe's April Wine Walk
- The permit is for an event on April 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The committee noted this is a twice-annual event and that the police and fire departments raised no issues. A motion to approve and recommend to Common Council passed 3-0 (Kleven, Franke, Sheaffer in favor).
- Approval and Recommendation of Special Event Permit: ARC - Green County's Monroe Balloons and Music Festival
- The permit is for June 19–20, 2026, at the Green County Fairgrounds. Discussion noted the event had taken a one-to-two-year hiatus, likely due to COVID, and has been run by the same organization for three to four years since returning. Police and fire departments had no concerns. A motion to approve and recommend to Common Council passed 3-0 (Kleven, Franke, Sheaffer in favor).

Okay, it's uh uh 455. I'd like to call the public safety committee meeting to order if the clerk would call the roll. Alder Schaefer. Here Alder Cleveland here, Alder Whartonweiler, and Alder Frankie here. Okay. Uh any corrections of the minutes from March 9th. Hearing none, we'll stand as presented. Uh moving on to business presented by the police department, C1 approval and recommendation of special event permit Main Street Monroe's April Wine Walk. So this is to take place on April 24th from 4 to 9 p.m. Um this is an um I guess technically this is an annual kind of conjunction with the fall one, but we do kind of this twice a year, and uh there is no issues from the PD or fire department, and everything else is pretty much the same as it was in previous years. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. We have a motion and a second. Any further questions or discussion? Okay, all those in favor of passing on to council say aye. Opposed no, and clerk will call the roll. Alder Schaefer? Aye, Alder Cleveland, aye, and Alder Frankie. Aye. And that passes. C2 approval and recommendation of special event permit, the ARC Green County Monroe Balloons and Music Fest. So this would be um in country on June 19th and the 20th. Um there's nothing necessarily new or different about this, and both the PD and fire department didn't have any issues regarding this. This is to be held at the Green County Fairgrounds. I know this event took one year off or two years off, and since then is it's been kind of the same organization and I know it's been back for three to four years now, but yeah, it did take a couple years.
