The Monroe License Committee met on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 4:45 PM in Council Chambers. Chair called the meeting to order with roll call: Alder Vesteen, Tolman, and Velkley present; Alder Mosher absent. The committee unanimously approved two beer-related license recommendations to the Common Council.
Correction of Minutes
- The minutes from June 22, 2026 were presented. No corrections were offered, and they stood as presented.
Discussion Items
- Green County House Beer Garden Application: The City Clerk presented an application from Green County House Inc. to extend their licensed premises onto the north side of their property (into the road) for a beer garden during Cheese Days. This is an annual event and unchanged from prior approvals. The committee discussed that the layout matches previous years. A motion to recommend approval to Common Council was made and seconded.
- Monroe Lions Club Temporary Class B License & Beer Garden: The Clerk presented an application from the Monroe Lions Club for a temporary Class B license and beer garden in conjunction with the Green County Fall Nationals Tractor Pull event on September 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM on September 13. The event is annual, with alcohol service limited to the grandstand area as shown on the map, and no changes from past years. The committee discussed the location. A motion to recommend approval to Common Council was made and seconded.

Not here. All right. First correction of minutes. Are there any corrections to the minutes? Hearing none, the stand is presented. Business. First discussion and possible recommendation to common council. The Green County Houses Beer Garden Application. So first off, there's been a word. So this would be in conjunction with Cheese Days. Um bullets. Green County House Inc. is looking to extend their premise out on that would be the north side of their property into the road, and it's kind of marked on that map there. Um this is where they've normally blocked that off for for their cheese events and open up their beer garden for it. And it would just be an extension of their premise that they already have. They've had this before, right? Yeah. That's what I thought. And no changes, everything the same. Yep. Okay. I make a motion that we take it to council. I'll second. We have a motion and a second. If the clerk would please call the roll. Aye. Alder Tolman. Aye. And Alder Velkley. Aye. Next is discussion and possible recommendation to common counsel. The Monroe Lions Club temporary class B license and beer garden application in conjunction with the Green County Fall National Tractor Pull Event. So this would be for um September 12th during the fall nationals. It would be from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. the 13th. Um this is an annual event that the fall nationals hold, and the lines are they're typically the ones that apply and get the um temporary class B will along with the beer garden. And on the map there, it kind of shows where they're gonna be serving the alcohol or the beer, I should say. So it's just in the grandstands, no. And again, this is the same as it's been in the past, no changes. I make a motion.
