This

is administrator Rindi.

0:31

And so as we all are kind of aware, Bartles is currently closed down following the unfortunate fire earlier this year.

0:50

But kind of with looking back at the code and some inquiries, felt it was probably best for transparency and clarity to have an official resolution that kind of truly defined what that extension is.

1:04

So our code does require that a license that has been issued to not be not in use for 120 days more than 120 days or less than 25% of the year.

1:17

But with unforeseen circumstances, such as a fire otherwise, the council can set an extension of that time frame.

1:26

And so with that kind of looking, I have a drafted resolution.

1:35

But to have a recommendation to common council to officially set that extension for June 30th of this year of 2027 of this license cycle, I guess.

1:54

But kind of shared.

1:55

I think there's obviously hoped to be to have it be in use sooner than that.

2:00

But as we all know with insurance construction and plan reviews and things of that nature, that all also takes time.

Speaker 3

2:15

So I would be I would totally agree that we should extend it till 2027.

2:21

June 30th, and if he needs more, then can we bring it back?

Speaker 4

2:25

Yeah, so say at that point, um it would be up for renewal at that point during that application time.

2:31

We could probably then make that another separate resolution, I guess, if it had to go beyond or

Speaker 3

2:37

yeah, because there's the insurance companies are impossible, but I see them there all the time working.

2:44

So I know they're trying really hard.

Speaker 2

2:50

Was that your motion?

Speaker 3

2:52

Well, why don't I make it a motion?

2:53

I make a motion that we extend the Bartles licensing till June 30th of 2027.

Speaker 1

3:03

I'll second that, and I'm assuming that's just sending it on a council to I was gonna ask.

3:09

I I take it they have no time frame when they know they're gonna be done or okay, thank you.

4:10

Yeah, hopefully it'll be done before next June.

4:13

Um any other questions or not?

4:16

Otherwise, I'll ask for the vote.

4:17

Holder Tolman.

4:19

Aye, holder vocally,

Speaker 3

4:21

aye.

Speaker 1

4:22

Okay, they'll go on to common council for approval.

4:26

Uh item D, business by members.

Speaker 2

4:30

Summary of Proceedings

City of Monroe License Committee Meeting - October 26, 2026

The License Committee met on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 4:45 PM in Council Chambers at 1110 18th Avenue. The meeting was called to order with a quorum present (Holder Vestina, Holder Tolman, Holder Volkley). The sole business item was a discussion and recommendation regarding an extension of the Class B license for Bartel's Tap Co., which has been closed due to a fire.

Discussion Items

  • Extension of Bartel's Tap Co. Class B License: City Administrator Rindi explained that Bartel's Tap Co. is currently closed following a fire earlier in 2026. Per city code, a license not in use for more than 120 days (or less than 25% of the year) can be extended by the council for unforeseen circumstances. A draft resolution was presented to formally extend the license through June 30, 2027. It was noted that the owners are actively working on reconstruction, but construction, insurance, and plan reviews are taking time. Committee members expressed support, noting that a further extension could be requested if needed.

Key Outcomes

  • Motion to Recommend Extension: Holder Tolman moved to extend the Bartel's Tap Co. license until June 30, 2027. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously (Holder Tolman aye, Holder Volkley aye). The recommendation will be forwarded to the Common Council for final approval.
