Meeting Transcript

Okay. Good evening, everybody. The regular civil service commission meeting for June 15th is called to order. Caitlin, can you please take roll? Commissioner Mason. Here. Vice Chair Fitzgerald. Chair Halliday? Here. Commissioner Aguilera and Commissioner Holiday are absent. All other commissioners are present. Thank you. Thank you, Caitlin. Any changes to the agenda or supplemental reports? No changes today. No changes. All right. We'll move on to public comment. Public comment provides an opportunity for members of the public to directly address the commission on items of interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the commission. If your comments pertain to a specific item on the agenda, we ask you to reserve your comments until the item is before the commission. Any comments from the audience. Seeing none, uh we will um move on since we've received no comments from the public. We'll now conclude the general public comment portion of the agenda and move on to item four, the consent calendar. These routine items can be approved with one motion and vote. If a commissioner wishes to discuss an item, they can request the item be removed from the consent calendar. And after the remaining items are approved, items which are removed would be considered separately. Is there a motion to approve the consent calendar? I move to approve these consent calendar. I second that. All those in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. And the motion passes. We now move on to administrative reports. And I see that we have no administrative reports on tonight's agenda. So comments by commissioners and staff, uh comments from the commissioners. I have none. I don't either. I just want to make a quick comment. Susanna Aguilera, this would be her last uh uh meeting as a commissioner. Uh and typically we would acknowledge her contribution to the city and to her work on the commission, and uh even in her absence, I want to acknowledge her. So thank you, Susanna. And um uh comments from staff. Yes, thank you. I do have one update, and that's regarding uh Commissioner Aguilera's vacancy regarding the Civil Service Commission appointment of the employee elected commissioner. Those nominations were held and uh from June 8th, Monday, June 8th until Friday, uh June 12th. And so at five o'clock, now the notice of election of the certified candidates will be posted on Thursday, June 18th, and then the election will be held on Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th, with the notice of election containing information regarding the location time, procedures and and voting from the city clerk, and then the votes will be counted on Monday, June 29th. Also, for the classified employees that are out of town or ill or that need to submit an absentee ballot, those are available through the clerk, either by email or phone or in person, and so um they will begin to accept absentee ballots on Monday, June 22nd, but they must be received no later than Friday, June 26th at 5 o'clock. So that is underway under the city clerk's uh administration of that process. That's great.
