Ladies and gentlemen, I'm standing here tonight to uh recognize a very important um month in my personal story and my family story, June is considered Alzheimer's Awareness and Brain Awareness Month.

And so I have a proclamation before us that I'm going to read and join by my colleagues to recognize it.

So whereas Alzheimer's disease, a progressive neurodegenerative brain disorder, tragically robs individuals of their memories and leads to progressive mental and physical impairments.

Whereas the Alzheimer Association works tirelessly to increase awareness, raise funds, and advance public policy to fight all Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

And whereas these efforts have thereby improved the quality of human life for those living with all Alzheimer's and their caregivers and now therefore I, Russ Bradford, District 13 Councilmember of the Metropolitan Government, Nashville and Dayson County, Tennessee, do hereby recognize June 2024 as Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month and urge all residents to wear purple in support of Alzheimer's Association and those living with Alzheimer's and dementia and their caregivers.
