The Metropolitan Council met on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 6:30 PM in the Metropolitan Courthouse. The meeting included a presentation recognizing Molly Tuttle for her second consecutive Grammy Award, appointments and confirmations to various boards, nominations to fill vacancies, a public hearing on a beer permit exemption, and consideration of numerous resolutions and ordinances. The meeting began at 6:00 PM with announcements and the presentation. The invocation was offered by Henry Cervantes-Cruz, a student at Stratford STEM Magnet High School. 37 members were present throughout the meeting.
20th, and we'll start the announcement period. Uh we have one presentation tonight, and colleagues, um all of you sign on to this resolution, and so those of you that are able to join me in presenting it, I will appreciate if you'll join us at the back podium. And this is a resolution recognizing Molly Turtle on a second consecutive Grammy Award. Okay, we're gonna read it in the first one. I think she might want to start. Oh, you already broke it out. Thank you. There's more people. All right. Yes, all right. Thanks, everyone. Uh, it's my honor to present this resolution to an amazing young lady, talented, beautiful, humble, incredible, uh, who's represented us so well uh with our consecutive Grammy win. She won one last year, she won another one this year. I wanted to take the time to congratulate her. This is resolution number IRS 2024 354. A resolution recognizing Molly Tottle on a second consecutive Grammy Award. Whereas Molly Toto began playing guitar at the age of eight and started playing on stage with her father, bluegrass multi-instruments instrumentalist Jack Toto by the time she was 11. And whereas her first recording album was released with her father when she was 13, and she added banjo and mandolin to her repertoire, and whereas Tuttle attended the Berkeley College of Music for comp music and composition and continued to play music and was recognized as a rising star in the bluegrass scene. And whereas after moving to Nashville in 2015, Toto released her first solo project in 2017 and became the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association's Guitar Player of the Year Award, and whereas on February 4th, 2020. Oh, sorry, whereas in early 2022, Toto released her third full-length album, Crooked Tree with her bluegrass collective Golden Highway. This release won the Grammy Award for Best Best Bluegrass Album in 2023, and also garnered her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Anne. Whereas on February 4th, 2024, Molly Tuttle and her band, Golden Highway, won their second consecutive Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for City of Gold. And whereas City of Gold was recorded at the Sound Emporium in Nashville, which Tuttle co-wrote with Catch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show. And you whereas, in addition to her work as a musician, Tuttle also works to bring awareness to alopecia radio. I apologize, I probably uh butchered that. A common autoimmune autoimmune skin disease causing hair loss of the scalp, face, and sometimes other areas of the body, and alopecia, univarus, and total body hair loss. And now, therefore, oh my policy. Whereas it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Molly Turtle and her win at the 66th 66th annual Grammy Awards. Now, therefore, be resolved by the council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Now the Metropolitan County County Council hereby goes on record as honoring and congratulating Molly Tottle on a second consecutive Grammy win for Best Bluegrass Album and extending to our best wishes for every continued sources. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption. The welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davison County requiring it. Congratulations.
