The Joint Economic Development and Climate Change and Sustainability Committees met on October 27, 2026, to consider two resolutions: the Community Solar Contract Summary Disclosure Form and a Payment-in-Lieu-of-Taxes (PILOT) agreement for the Omni Hotel project. Both items were approved unanimously.
Alright, we're ready to get started. Please call a roll. Okay. Councilmember Morel? Councilmember Wheeler? Council Member McCarry. Here, we have a cloud. Thank you. Um, so today is a joint climate change in sustainability and economic development. Uh, we are going to take up it. I'd like to call uh deputy swartz down to do a brief presentation. Um, this is related to the Army Hotel and the pilot term. Um, uh, appreciate you all scheduling uh this meeting. Um, uh the agenda item up for today is uh discussion and consideration of the receipt. Um, we've seen a lot of discussion um for the last six months or so. Today is simply a procedural step. Um, we will process, under the state revised statute. Uh the conventional center, headquarters, hotel state district, uh, has to refer the byway turnship. That was negotiated back in June with a lot of leadership on the part of uh the council members, uh especially that's here today. Um that term sheet is then referred to the office of economic development this evening, and to uh create a report and uh report to the council of economic development committee before the full council for approval. So uh this is a procedural step in that process. Um everybody is uh intimately familiar with this project. I just briefly go through its attributes. Um this is a truly project. Uh and the office economic development is um, uh, and we'll put it in the taxes, and it's not a good thing. I think that's a good thing. Hotel development. Thank Mayor Helena Moreno. We want to thank the conventions under Jim Cook's leadership. Well, with New Orleans and Company, the Omni Hotel Group, and all the council members uh in the Harvard Part. Um, I think we have a win here. I think this is a big financial uh economic development move for the city of New Orleans. Um so with that, do we have any comments from the day? All right, I will motion to approve. It's been seconded by seconded by Council President Morrell. All in favor. Uh aye. Any opposed? All right. Forty-eight zero nays, and it has been the resolution has been adopted.
