Good evening.

And I'm Catherine White, Executive Director of the Neurochelle Chamber of Commerce, and I'm thrilled to be here today to celebrate the reopening of Sutton Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

It's an amazing feat to have a business that's been in business here in Neurochelle for over 25 years, and we love to see them reinvesting in our city.

We have other people here to celebrate this momentous day, especially starting with Mayor Yadira Ramos Herbert.

Martha Lopez, she is the MWBE director for Westchester County Legislator and a City Council representative for New Rochelle.

From the Westchester County Legislator, we have Terry Clemens with us.

From West HAB First Source Referral, we have Ned Morello here.

And of course, we have with us NRPD because we always like to feel safe.

And what can be better than NRPD in the house?

So we're very thankful for that.

And with that, I'd like to call up the mayor to say a few words of welcome.

Um, you know, I think as mayor, it's always really um heartwarming to see businesses that stay in New Rochelle that continue to reinvest, as you noted, Catherine, in New Rochelle, by providing quality care like this institution does and different opportunities for employment for New Rochelle.

So I really just want to thank Sutton Home just for saying yes and sticking with New Rochelle.

I'm sure renovations are a lot and a lot of curveballs and a lot of management, and you're in the business of healing people and making them better, so I can only imagine what balancing all of those balls in the air felt like.

But as mayor, we really appreciate sticking with us sticking with being such a vital resource here in the community.

And as a selfish note, like again, just because New Rochelle is so awesome that way, Samira was one of my very first meetings as mayor in 2024 when she was a high school student, so I pulled up my phone.

I pulled up my picture from 2024, literally like 12 days in office, 15 days in office.

And so because just New Rochelle is so special in that way, right?

An institution like this provides one of our college students with a great summer opportunity to grow and become a professional, and because our city is so small and but so big, she can reconnect with her mayor three or two years later and tell her what's going on, and I can see that future.

So, anyways, it's just these kind of moments matter, they don't happen everywhere, and and this institution is providing that.

So, really genuinely thank you so much.

And now I'd like to bring up Martha Lopez to say a few words from Westchester County government.

Thank you, thank you so much.

And I bring the greetings from the county executive, Ken Jenkins, and you know what, investing in the community, as previously said, is so important.

But being a New Rochelle, it makes me very, very proud because places like this are extremely important.

I love it, looks very welcoming, and I look forward to working with you in so many different ways.

On behalf of the Westchester Board of Legislators, I'm happy to join you here.

Uh, this facility is a very important for people and families, uh, especially when people are recovering from surgery and other illnesses, that they need this support.

So this is a very lovely facility.

Uh, I like the upgrades very much, and I want to congratulate the administration and the staff, and this lunchroom looks beautiful.

So uh, on behalf again of the board of the legislators, I have a citation for you today.

And um, it says Sutton Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and recognition of the ribbon cutting for opening of the newly renovated resident dining room and the launch of Sutton Park's new diabetes and wellness program serving both residents and the Neurochale community.

Um presented this 21st day of May.

So congratulations, thank you.

So just for a moment, we'd like to acknowledge and call up the administrators who are with us here from Sutton Park just to get this certification from um Westchester County Board of Legislators.

So we have Layla Shudo with us.

She's the administrator for the facility.

We have Madeline Ziff, she is the Diabetes Management Program Director, which is a new and emerging program here in New Rochelle, and something that our community and even Westchester County really needs to be aware of and take part in.

And then we have Evita Espino, she is the director of marketing and admissions.

As some of you may know and some of you may not know, I am Layla Judo.

I'm the administrator of Sutton Park.

I just want to start by thanking every one of you for joining us here tonight as we celebrate our ribbon cutting ceremony and our diabetes management program.

We can't do any of this without any of you, so I just want to say thank you again for joining us.

We hope that you guys enjoy our dinner, drinks, dessert, and just enjoy yourself.

Hi everyone, my name is Madeline Ziff, and I'm the registered dietitian here at Sutton Park and the director of our new diabetes management and education program.

So our goal with this program is to take a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to treating our residents who have diabetes through dietary support, nursing care, therapeutic recreation, endocrinology, podiatry, and physical and occupational therapy, to name a few of the disciplines.

In addition to this, the heart of our program is providing comprehensive education across these disciplines to help our residents reintegrate back into the community with the confidence to navigate their diagnosis and take charge of their health.

We appreciate you all so much for coming out tonight and enjoy the rest of your evening.
