The Town Board met on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Public Comments & Testimony
- Charlene Prunus (50 Andover Court, Manhasset): Expressed opposition to excessive golf outings at Harbor Links golf course, stating that after Labor Day, outings increased to three or four times per week, blocking resident tee times. She argued that the golf operator, Kelly Brook, is highly incentivized by keeping 85% of revenue over $7 million, and that the contract language is vague and does not allow unlimited outings. She requested the town set limits, noting that other towns limit outings to one per week. She disputed the operator's claim that cancellations were the issue, asserting that the calendar shows outings, not cancellations, caused the problem. Supervisor DeSena and others responded, defending the outings as beneficial for community groups and noting that many outing days still had available tee times.
- John LaRay (137 Rockcrest Road, Manhasset): Expressed concern that the construction of EV charging stations in the Apple parking lot may violate restrictive covenants from a 2012 rezoning. He also raised safety concerns about lithium battery fires due to proximity to homes. Supervisor DeSena acknowledged the issue and stated a meeting is scheduled with the town attorney to review the covenants.

- Bond Resolution for Road Improvements (Item 5): A bond resolution authorizing $5,859,643 for construction of road improvements, including Westbury Avenue in Carle Place, Plan Dome Road in Manhasset, and Carleton Avenue wall in Port Washington. - Waste Collection Contract Award (Item 4): A resolution authorizing a contract with Meadow Carting for collection and disposal of waste and recyclables for the Great Neck Garbage District. Councilman Levy asked about pricing differences from the previous contract and escalations. Deputy Town Attorney Deborah Algios explained that the bid documents include annual escalations in the base price. The contract was awarded with only one bidder. Councilman Levy also raised a procedural point about discussing contract terms in open session versus executive session. The resolution was adopted 7-0.

Before we get into our public comment, uh we have a special guest here with us today. Our uh our colleague for four years, uh the honorable David Domy. Uh we've asked him to come back so that we could thank him for his four years of service. We have a small token for your next office. Um yeah, please come come up to the podium. We're gonna come down there for another photo. You guys are really killing me. I know, I know. It's been a lot of up and down. Um but you know, four years was very long, but it also went very fast. And uh it was it was quite amazing when when the for us to start together. Um we learned a lot together about representing our district. You actually represented my district, my my home district. So um I want to thank you for your help, uh, for your help for this board, for bringing your expertise to the town of North Hempstead. And I hope that you will that we'll still see you at our events, and uh and we wish you the best with your uh growing family and um and and we will miss you. So thank you. And again, we we wish you the very best. And this says David A. Adami, Councilman, Town of North Hempstead, 2022 to 25, in recognition of your dedicated service presented by North Hempstead Town Board. Well, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. I'll say last week I looked at my calendar on uh on Tuesday in the afternoon and I was like, oh man, I got a town board meeting, and then I I quickly realized I don't. And I felt somewhat left out. I had a little bit of had a little bit of FOMO. Right. But uh I guess uh that FOMO got quelled this morning with uh the little bit of action I saw. So I do miss it. And uh I do miss all you guys, and it was really uh quite an honor and an honor and a privilege to represent uh my district, both districts, and uh I thank uh all of my colleagues and the constituents for giving me the the privilege to represent them. Thank you very much. And I have a uh Persian uh nephew, uh uh David Adami. Thank you very much. Uh thank you. Well thank you very much, Dave. And you know, you uh you you know when I fell down the stairs over here and broke my toes, I sat in our caucus for two and a half hours with my toes thumping like a toothache. And when it was all over, the only person who called me up to ask me how I was doing a few days later was David Adami. So thank you very much, Dave.
