The North Las Vegas City Council convened on March 18, 2026, for a regular meeting that included a consent agenda, a public hearing on a zoning change, a status update on the Villages at Tule Springs Regional Park, and a second public forum for non-agenda items. The meeting began with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Jayla and Mila Ramos, followed by council member reports.
Go ahead and start to pull up. Okay. The North Las Vegas City Council welcomes you to its meeting. There are two public comment sections for the public to set aside at this meeting. One at the beginning and one at the end. If you wish to speak, please complete one of the blue cards, which are located at the table outside the main entrance and right here at the podium rail. Please give the card to the city clerk when called upon to speak. We request you limit your comments to no more than two minutes and that you avoid repetition. Madam City Clerk, are we in compliance with the Nevada Open Meeting Law? Yes, ma'am. Okay, today we have the opportunity to have the indication given by Mayor Pro Tem Scott Black. Following that, the Pledge of Allegiance is led by Jayla and Mila Ramos. Please rise. Our kind and gracious Father in Heaven, we pause at the beginning of this city council meeting to express gratitude for the many blessings which we receive as individuals, as families and as a community. At this time I pray for peace to prevail and good decisions to be made, especially as tumultuous challenges are facing our world that we live in. Pray as a community leader that we may use wisdom and discernment in our decision making that we will find ways to serve and lift those that are in need in our community and meet the needs of those that we serve. I pray for our law enforcement or police and fire fighters and those that put themselves in harm what harm's way to protect us that they may be watched over and protected. We're grateful for the families that live in our city and pray for the families and the children that they may have their needs met. I pray for this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Amen. Before we start, I just want to thank you for allowing us to do the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the United States of America. And before I continue, I would like to say thank you for accepting our invitation. Just so you are aware, we have asked if city staff have their children or other family members that would love to join us to be to leave the pledge of allegiance or other community members. All right, moving on to council items. We'll start with Councilman Churchill. I know. We'll go with you first. Thank you, Mayor. Clark County's women of the month celebration was on March 3rd. The Board of Commissioners did honor our mayor, Pamela Gordon Brown, uh, for her service to the city and for years of service to Nevada and the school district. I want to say that uh it was a real it was an honor to be there. Mayor, Mayor Gordon Brown does uh a very good job here. Uh she's kind of brought everything together for us, and uh you know I personally appreciate that as being a fellow council member here. Uh but I also want to uh take a moment just to uh acknowledge uh there were so many very qualified ladies that they um that the county commission is uh recognized, but one in particular for me, besides our mayor was uh Trish Williamson, who uh uh works out of Sun City Aliante. She's uh she's a vital part of uh my writing an article for the breeze every month. Um she's very dedicated to the community, and besides just doing that, she's uh she's an all-around, very qualified, very nice lady. So I I wanted to I wanted to make sure that I uh I mentioned that for her uh at this uh count this uh council meeting here. Um the other thing we have, Mayor, is uh of course our state of the city address coming up next week on the 26th at uh I think it's the Scottsdale room at the Aliante Casino. Um it'll be live streamed on the City of North Las Vegas YouTube page, and the program starts at 1245. So uh I encourage uh and I really do mean this, I encourage everybody who won't be able to attend uh the state of the city personally to watch this and uh share with uh some of your your neighbors because this will show everybody as to what the city has become over the years, and the other part of that is where the city is going in the coming years.
